Chapter 3
Chapter 3 (Adjusting To My New Life)

Chapter Description: I've awoken from my nap and find that I'm in my new bedroom. I wonder how Brian’s doing? Time to get out of my crib and find out!

Date: Thursday 25-Nov-21 13:21 (Thursday, November 25, 2021, 1:21 PM)
Location: Brian’s Residence, Skyward Villas Apartments, Kirkwood, Missouri, United States of America
My eyes snap open and when I sit up in my crib, I notice the purple walls surrounding me. “This is so cool! I’m not dreaming, I really am a toddler in a crib in Brian’s apartment.” I turn to the right of my crib and scan my Acer Nitro 5 showing off its lock screen. I smile at the time: 13:21 and date. “I guess I fell asleep after that big lunch Brian, Denis, and I had.”
I yawn and rub my eyes as I scan my purple T-shirt and the Pampers Baby Dry diaper hugging my waist. I trace the colorful circles and notice the yellow-green wetness indicator, “That must mean I’m wet. I saw on the box that the diapers have wetness indicators.” I rise to my feet and turn toward my crib bars whilst my Pampers Baby Dry diaper crinkles. “And since it’s not fully yellow, that means I’m wet.”
I train my eyes toward the tall crib bars and grab them so I can shake them whilst craning my neck toward the top, “I don’t even think I can get out of here.” I sigh as I release the bars and slide onto my padded bottom. I rub my chin whilst hissing echoes around me as the bottles of lemonade I had during our Thanksgiving meal earlier leave my body. My ears perk up at the hissing noise, “There’s that same noise again! I gotta tell Brian.”
I dart my eyes toward the foot of my crib whilst my Pampers Cruisers wetness indicator turns blue and I take note of the rocking chair resting against the wall, the toy chest sitting a few feet in front of it, and lastly one pair of black tennis shoes alongside a pair of purple tennis shoes with a white undersole and a purple-white toe. “Well at least I’ve got toys and stuff. But I still can’t get out of my crib to get to them!”
I turn back to my crib bars and grab onto them while the hissing dies down, “Hmmm…I’ll ask Brian about that too.” I wiggle my toes and pull on the bars whilst pushing myself upward. I smile when I inch upward and grab above where my hands currently rest. With small grunts and pushing upward, I make it to the top of the bars within five minutes. I giggle as I sit atop the crib and glance down to the floor.
I blink twice and inhale as I jump with my eyes closed. The air sails through my hair as I float toward the ground and a cool, tickling sensation rushes through my bare feet. I open my eyes and smile, “Heee…Now to find Brian.” I waddle over to my slightly cracked door and push it open to reveal the hardwood floor of the rest of Brian’s apartment.
I smile when I spot Brian sitting on the couch wearing a green sweater and blue jeans whilst Imagine Dragons’ Follow You echoes across the living room. “Brian?” I waddle over to the couch and rest my hands on Brian’s knees. “I’m up.”
Brian smiles down at me and lifts me into his lap, “Good afternoon, Stacinator. Did you have a good nap?”
I nod and boop Brian’s nose, “Uh huh! I um…I heard a hissing noise when I woke up. I also heard it earlier but didn’t think anything of it cause a lot was going on. What’s that hissing noise mean, Brian?”
Brian rises with me held close and rubs my back as he heads toward my bedroom, “That’s just a sign that your body is eliminating waste, nothing to worry about. I guess it’s your first time noticing you going potty huh?”
“Yeah…heehee…I’m a toddler now so it makes sense. I do have another question though.” I poke Brian’s cheek and giggle, “Why did you put me in a crib?”
Brian chuckles as he passes the kitchen, “I figured I’d rather be safe than sorry since you as a toddler would be more prone to hurt yourself if you rolled out of bed. A crib makes more sense than a bed.”
“Oh…I did have issues kinda…getting out. I had to climb up the bars.” I rest my head over Brian’s shoulder as he carries me into my new bedroom, “What about your job though? How can you work and take care of me?” I sniff and hiccup as tears swim in my eyes, “I don’t want you to risk your job for me!”
Brian lays me down on my changing table and grabs a fresh Pampers Cruisers diaper from the stack to lightly tap me on the head with, “Silly. I’m the executive assistant to the director. He doesn’t need me to come into the library as much as I used to.”
Brian sets the fresh diaper down by my head, “And most times I just work from home.” He unfastens my soaked diaper and lifts my legs to slide it away, “I’ll be able to care for my baby brother and keep my job flowing. As for your crib, it has a latch you can pull to get out. I’m sure you’ll spot it.”
I sniff as Brian works on getting me dry whilst tossing the old wipes into my old Pampers resting out of range of my kicking feet, “You…you promise you won’t leave me?”
Brian smiles as he lowers my legs so he can roll my old diaper into a ball and tape it shut, “I promise, Stacey. If I ever go into work, I’ll take you with me.” Brian tosses the old diaper into the diaper pail and grabs the baby powder, “I talked with the director, and he said I can bring you in while I work. The library does have a children’s section and there’s tons of books you can read, they’ve also got TV you can watch with the other kiddos.”
I cross my arms and pout while Brian lifts my legs with his left hand so he can powder my uplifted bottom with his right, “But…I don’t wanna be alone. I don’t want you to leave me.”
Brian closes the baby powder with his chin and sets it down, “I won’t leave you, Stacey.” He grabs the fresh diaper and flicks it unfolded so he can slide it under my bottom, “And I just said that there’s other kiddos in the children’s section should it come to that.” He hums as he brings the smiling veggie themed shell up to my belly and secures the left tape. Brian boops my nose, “Still, I’ll always be around.” and secures the right tape. Brian lifts me into his arms with a loving pat to my freshly diapered bottom, “All dry.”
I whimper and rest my head over Brian’s shoulder as he heads toward the bathroom, “You promise you’ll never leave me?” I hiccup as Brian sets me on my feet in the middle of the bathroom and I watch him wash his hands, “I…I just don’t wanna be alone. I…I just…” I hiccup and silent tears inch down my face. “I don’t wanna be a burden. I…I…just wanna be a toddler and…and…”
Brian dries his hands and turns to kneel in front of me while I wipe my tears with my hands, “Stacey…” Brian gently holds my hands, “Look at me.”
I sniff and lift my teary eyes to Brian, “What?”
Brian smiles and kisses my forehead, “You are not a burden, and you are a toddler. You will be a toddler forever and I’ll always care for you.” Brian wipes my tears with his thumb and pulls me into a warm hug whilst alternating between patting my diapered bottom and rubbing my back, “I’ll always be here for you. I have to be. We’re brothers and always connected, and I said I’d be your caretaker if you ever became a tot. I just need to adjust to this.”
I sniffle and bury my head in Brian’s neck while his gentle back rubs and bottom pats attempt to banish my sadness. I didn’t expect when I became a toddler and came to this parallel world that my emotions and fears would be heightened so much. But…but at least I have Brian, he said he’d always be here and be my caregiver. I’m…I’m happy of that at least. At least I won’t be alone in this parallel world. Maybe being stuck here won’t be so bad.

I open my eyes and smile at Brian who’s knelt in front of me with a matching smile. I dart my eyes around and realize I’m standing in the middle of the living room. “I…what happened? Brian? I…”
Brian kisses my forehead, “It’s okay, you’re fine now.”
I smile toward Brian and poke his belly, “Thanks for cheering me up.”
Brian pulls me into a warm hug, “No problem.” and delivers loving pats to my diapered bottom. “I love you, Stacey.”
When Brian releases me from the hug, I waddle toward my bedroom and dive into my toy chest, “Let’s see…” I giggle as I swim around the plastic balls, plush blocks, and card decks, “AH!” I grab the UNO card deck and waddle-run back into the living room, “UNO!” I glance down to the deck and shake my head as I toss it to the ground, “NO! Wait…um…” I tap my bare foot and smile toward Brian moments later whilst poking his nose, “TAG! YOU’RE IT!” I giggle as I turn and waddle-run across the apartment, “YOU GOTTA FIND MEEEEEE!”
Brian smiles as he watches me waddle toward the curtains overlooking the city below, “Imma get you, Stacey.”
I giggle as I stop at the curtains and turn to see Brian’s radiant smile as he slowly stomps toward me. I smile as I waddle-run toward the kitchen and duck inside the cupboard. “He’ll never find me in here.”

I giggle when I hear Brian walking into the kitchen, “Imma scare him.” I inch toward the door when I see Brian passing by. I jump out and waddle slowly behind my big brother. I can’t believe we’ve been playing for so long. This was so much fun though I dunno why, but it is! Right as Brian stops at the kitchen doorway, I tackle-hug him, resulting in him being pushed forward a little while I hug him tight and rest my head on his back, “GOTCHA BRIAN! Heee….”
Brian chuckles as he pries me off his waist and turns to kiss both my hands, “Silly Baby.” Brian releases my hands and kneels to poke my belly when I yawn, “I think it’s bedtime.”
My eyes widen at Brian’s words, “Bedtime? Why?” I waddle into the living room and stop at the curtains to see a dark sky greeting me, “Aww…wait.” I spin on my bare feet and see Brian towering over me. I crane my neck toward him and giggle when he boops my nose. I wobble as I feign a strong push and crash-land on my diapered bottom, “Hee…you really tall Brian.”
Brian kneels and boops my nose again, “I know. I must be like a giant to a toddler like you.”
“Yep.” I wrap my arms around Brian’s neck and kiss his cheek, “But you’re a gentle giant.” I giggle and kiss Brian’s cheek three more times whilst hissing carries the bottles I had during our playtime out of my body. I dart my eyes around the apartment and notice the ground getting farther away from me while the hissing dies down. I turn and find that Brian’s holding me out at arm’s length.
I giggle and swing my legs whilst my Pampers Cruisers crinkle, “You’re gonna make me go to bed now huh?”
Brian rests me against his chest and alternates between rubbing my back and patting my diapered bottom whilst Pentatonix’s Easy Love begins to echo across the house, “I think a slow walk around the apartment while soothing you will be good. Give us both some rest.”
I smile as I rest my head over Brian’s shoulder whilst Brian kisses my cheek, “Yeah.” Brian’s making me being a toddler well worth it. He’s an awesome big brother and I think I’m gonna enjoy being a toddler under his care. I snuggle close to him while my music and Brian’s gentle caress lulls me into a peaceful state. “I love you, Brian.”
