Chapter 27
Chapter 27 (Bonds Between Brothers – Brian’s Return)

Chapter Description: Chapter 27: Brian’s come home! I missed him lots and first thing in the morning is changies and breakfast. I hope Brian doesn’t have to leave for long periods anymore. I hate when he’s not around. I miss my big brother lots.

I yawn and open my eyes to see I’m lying in my crib. I rub my eyes as I sit up allowing my purple T-shirt to flutter and my Pampers Cruisers diaper to crinkle. I squirm in my crib as I dart my eyes around my bedroom whilst my Pampers crinkle and I feel a squish. I rise to my feet and waddle over to my crib bars junction to release the lock.

Once my crib bars slide to the floor, I jump down and waddle over to my computer. I shake the mouse and my gaming station reveals my username and pin lock screen. I unlock my computer and glance to the date in the lower right-hand corner of the taskbar,

“Wow…it’s still early. Good, I didn’t sleep too much.” I turn toward my open door and waddle into the hallway, “Mommy? Brian?” I waddle into the kitchen and find it empty. I rub my chin and waddle over to the fridge to open the door. I pull a baby bottle of strawberry watermelon lemonade from the bottle shelf.

I shut the fridge and hold the bottle with my right hand so I can suckle the delicious juice while I waddle into the living room, “No one here either.” I pop my half-drained bottle from my lips, “Hmmm…” and bring it back to my lips to finish it off as I waddle toward Brian’s bedroom. I smile when I notice the bedroom door is open.

I drop my empty bottle on the floor and stop in the doorway to find Brian sliding a green sweater over the green T-shirt covering his upper body. I smile while scanning the blue jeans hugging his lower body and his white tennis shoes, “Hiya, Brian!”

Brian turns to me seconds after popping his head through the sweater, “Good morning, Stacey.” He threads his arms through the sleeves and kneels with his arms open wide, “How’d my baby brother sleep?”

I waddle-run toward Brian, “I SLEPT GREAT!” I smile as I snuggle into Brian’s warm hug and giggle as he pats my padded bottom. When he rises with me resting close to his chest, I kiss his cheek and rest my head over his shoulder, “How was your weekend with Denis?”

Brian smiles as he walks over to my bedroom and lays me down on my changing table, “It was good. Denis and I went golfing, bowling, and we played a lot of video games. It was an awesome weekend.”

I smile toward Brian as he tickles my bare right foot and I kick my legs, “Heee…I’m glad you and Denis had fun. What else happened?”

Brian scans my Pampers green wetness indicator and pats the front of my diaper, “Well, my boss called me. He said I can work from home.” Brian unfastens my wet diaper and lifts my legs to slide it away.

My eyes widen, “REALLY?!” I poke Brian’s nose as he works on getting me dry whilst tossing the old wipes into the diaper resting outside of range of my feet, “What’s that mean?”

Brian lowers my legs so he can roll my wet diaper into a ball and tape it shut, “That means I can do the timesheets for our employees and other duties from home and still get my paycheck every two weeks.” Brian lifts my legs and grabs the baby powder, “That means…”

I squirm and giggle as Brian powders my uplifted bottom, “That means you’ll be home all the time now. YAY!” I smile toward Brian as he sets the baby powder down and grabs the fresh Pampers Cruisers diaper, “I’m so happy.” I sniff and tears swim in my eyes as Brian flicks the diaper unfolded.

Brian tilts his head at my tears and slides the fresh diaper under my bottom, “Why are you crying, Stacey?” He brings the green circle decorated shell up to my belly and brings the left wing of the diaper toward the picture strip so he can secure the left tape.

I sniffle and smile toward Brian despite the happy tears inching down my face, “I’m happy cause I get my big brother back.” I wipe my tears from my eyes and watch as Brian brings the right wing of my Pampers Cruisers diaper toward the picture strip and tapes the new diaper snug around my waist.

I giggle and kick my legs allowing my fresh Pampers to crinkle, “Thankies for the change, Brian.”

Brian kisses my forehead, “You’re welcome, Stacey.” and pats my diaper while I continue kicking my legs, allowing my diaper crinkling to echo toward his ears. Once I stop kicking my legs, he lifts me into his arms and hugs me close while he heads toward the bathroom, “I’m glad to be back too. I missed my baby brother.”

I smile and rest my head over Brian’s shoulder as he enters the bathroom, “I missed you too, Brian.” I train my eyes toward him seconds after he sets me on my feet. I waddle around the bathroom and turn to him while he washes his hands, “Did you have breakfast, Brian?”

Brian hums as he finishes washing his hands and shuts off the sink, “I haven’t.” He turns and kneels to boop my nose with a smile, “What would you like, Little Bro?”

I waddle-run out of the bathroom and stop in front of the fridge whilst bouncing up and down, “Come on, Brian!”

Brian chuckles as he walks toward the kitchen and ducks behind the wall at the entrance, “Where’d my little bro go?” He peeks around the entrance and smiles down at me, “There you are.” Brian scoops me into his arms and tickles my feet.

I giggle and kick my legs while Brian’s tickling energy courses through my feet, “BRIAN! STAAAAHP! HA! HA! HA! HA!”

Brian smiles and kisses my forehead, “Ok, Stacinator.” He sets me on my feet in front of the fridge and pats my padded bottom, “So have you figured out what you wanted?”

“Uh huh!” I open the fridge and pull the Johnsonville Andouille Sausage package from the shelf at the bottom, “I really like these. I cut one in half and put it between two hot dog buns.” I set the sausages on the counter and waddle over to the breadbasket to pull out the hot dog buns.

“Okay.” Brian smiles as he watches me push my stepladder toward the plate cabinet, “Need any help, Stacinator?”

I shake my head as I ascend my stepladder and grab two red saucers from the middle cabinet shelf. I turn to Brian with a big smile, “Brian?”

Brian walks over to take the plates in his left hand and scoop me up with his right hand. He bounces me on his right arm and holds me on his hip as he walks over to the counter, “So you want me to cook them, Stacey?”

I smile toward Brian as he sets me on the counter next to the plates, “Okay.” I scan the sausages and pull two of the links out of one of the packages to set on top. I crawl toward the paper towel and pull five sheets. “Just gotta wrap them in paper towel and put in the microwave.” I crawl back to the sausages whilst my padded bottom wags and crinkles.

I giggle as I glance down to the drawers and pull out a knife, “Now I gots to cut them in half!”

Brian takes the knife from me and kisses my forehead, “Toddlers don’t handle knives, Crinklebutt.”

I smile toward Brian and scoot to my left so he can cut the two sausages in half, “Sowwy.”

Brian sets the knife in the sink and returns to ruffle my hair, “It’s alright. Now what?”

I scan the halved sausages and the paper towel roll next to me. I pull a sheet of five paper towels off the roll with a smile, “Wrap the sausages in the paper towels.” I grab the sausages and put them on the first sheet. I giggle and swing my legs whilst my Pampers crinkle as I roll the sausages up in the paper towel. “Heee…”

I hold the paper towel wrapped sausages up to Brian, “Then put these in the microwave for one minute and fifteen seconds.”

Brian nods and heads toward the microwave with the sausages. After he sets the cook time, he shuts the microwave. “Okay now…” Brian turns to see me suckling my second bottle of strawberry watermelon juice and smiles at me draining the bottle while kicking my legs. He’s such a cute toddler. I’m so glad I’m home.

Brian turns to the microwave when it beeps and takes the paper towel wrapped sausages out, “Now we just put them in the buns.” Brian walks over to the plates where I’m sitting the hot dog buns and proceeds to place one half sausage for each hot dog bun. “Okay, now what to add?”

I giggle and kick my legs allowing my Pampers to crinkle as I pull the half-drained bottle from my lips, “BARBECUE SAUCE!” I jump down from the counter and wrap my arms around Brian’s leg.

Brian chuckles as he ruffles my hair, “Alrighty.” He opens the fridge and grabs the barbecue sauce. He turns toward the counter and struggles to step forward, “Stacey…” He glances down and boops my nose, “I can’t move.”

I giggle and release Brian’s leg, “Sowwy.” I grab my plate and waddle over to the dining room table while Brian applies a liberal amount of barbecue sauce to his own sausages. I set my plate on the dining room table and jump down from my seat to see Brian approaching with the barbeque sauce, “Thankies.”

Brian ruffles my hair and hands me the barbecue sauce, “You’re welcome. You want anything to drink?”

I smile toward Brian while I finish dressing my sausages, “Strawberry Watermelon!”

Brian turns toward the kitchen and grabs a bottle of water for himself and blinks when he doesn’t see any baby bottles of strawberry watermelon juice. “Stacey…we’re out of that one. What flavor do you want? We’ve got black raspberry, apple, grape soda, and orange soda.”

I bite into one of my sausages and lick the barbecue sauce from my lips, “Orange soda!”

Brian nods and grabs the orange soda bottle along with his water, “Alright, here I come.”

I giggle and swing my legs as I watch Brian approach with our drinks. I take my bottle and set it down next to plate. I turn to Brian with a smile as I finish off my first sausage, “So whatcha wanna do today, Brian? I wanted to go bowling. I wanted to make a snowman, but it’s not snowing anymore In fact, all the snow is melting.”

“Humph!” I bite into my second sausage and smile at the deliciousness.

Brian rubs the back of his head as he finishes off his first sausage and drinks some of his water, “Well, it just depends on the weather, Stacey. It doesn’t always snow every day during Wintertime in the Midwest.”

I finish off my sausage and drive my half empty bottle toward my lips. I swing my legs as I drain the bottle of the delicious orange soda and smile. I set the empty bottle down and jump down from my booster seat, “Yeah, at least we can do other stuff.” When Brian pushes his chair out, I waddle over and rest my hands on his right leg while maintaining a bright smile, “Right, Brian?”

Brian nods as he stands up and gathers our empty plates, “That’s right.” He heads toward the kitchen to place the plates in the sink and seconds later he feels a weight on his leg. He glances down to me and ruffles my hair, “Such a cute baby brother I’ve got.” Brian kneels and boops my nose, “What do you wanna do now that your belly is full?”

I giggle and poke Brian’s nose, “What do you wanna do?”

Brian pulls me into a warm hug and rises to his full height, “Be with my baby brother. What do you wanna do?”

I rub my chin as Brian slowly walks out of the kitchen and my Favorites Playlist starts with Pentatonix’s You’re Out. I rest my head over Brian’s shoulder while he rubs my back and pats my bottom, “Lemme think. Um…” I dart my eyes around the living room as Brian walks around at a snail’s pace. “UNO! …um…then bowling!”

Brian sets me on my feet and kneels beside me to pull the green pencil box from under the couch, “Here we are.” He sits down across from me at the living room table and begins dealing out seven cards each, “Let’s play.”

I waddle over to the table to pick up my hand of cards, “Yeah!” I sit down with a crinkle and clap my bare feet together as I scan my hand: a red reverse, a wild draw four, a yellow eight, a yellow one, a green two, a green zero, and a green reverse. I smile toward Brian, “You go first since you’re oldest.”

Brian chuckles and scans his hand: a blue seven, a yellow eight, a yellow three, a green reverse, a yellow one, and a yellow six. He darts his eyes toward the empty space next to the deck, “I forgot to pick the starting color.”

I giggle and pull a quarter out of my shirt pocket, “Heads for yellow. Tails for green.”

Brian nods and watches me toss the coin in the air, “Aaaaand…”

I blink twice when the quarter lands on the table next to the deck, tail side up. “So the color is green.” I lay down my green two and smile at Brian.

Brian lays down his green reverse, “Wait…so that…oh…” Brian chuckles, “It’s your turn again.”

I shake my head, “It’s actually yours Brian. That’s how reverse works. It’s the same as skip.”

Brian nods, “Okay.” and scans his hand. “Nothing green or a two.” He draws and smiles at the yellow two which he lays down before me. “You’re turn.”

I clap my bare feet together and lay my cards face down, “Be right back.” I waddle into the kitchen to grab another bottle of orange soda. I smile as I waddle-run back into the living room and drain some of my bottle. “AAHHHHHH!” I set my bottle down and pick up my hand of cards with a smile, “This is gonna be fun!”

Brian nods as he scans his own hand, “Yep.”

Brian smiles as he lays his last blue card down, “UNO out!”

I giggle as I jump to my feet and waddle over to Brian, oblivious to the hissing carrying the bottles I had during our game out of my body. “YOU WON, BRIAN!”

Brian chuckles as he hugs me and alternates between rubbing my back and patting my bottom, “Yeah, it was a long game too.” Brian glances to his watch and chuckles at the time: 11:31. “When did we start?”

I giggle as I break free of the hug, “Well we finished breakfast around 8:30 and then we played UNO almost immediately after. So it’s been…” I count my fingers, “Three hours!” and hold three fingers up to Brian.

Brian ruffles my hair, “Yep.” and raises an eyebrow when I yawn. He picks up our cards and places them with the deck. “So…” He places the rubber band around the deck of cards and shuts the pencil case, “Are you ready for a nap, Stacey?”

I cross my arms and pout, “Nuuuu…” I waddle toward the TV and wobble as sleepiness begins to weaken my body. I wobble as I turn toward Brian and crash-land on my padded bottom.

Brian withholds a giggle and walks over to me, “Well…” He kneels to scoop me into his arms and slowly walks toward my bedroom, “are you sure you’re not sleepy?”

I boop Brian’s nose and giggle, “Boop. I just tripped.” I dart my eyes to the changing table that’s getting closer. “Do I need changies, Brian?”

Brian lays me down on my changing table and glances toward my Pampers Cruisers diaper’s wetness indicator. “Well, your wetness indicator is green which means you’re a wet tot.”

I glance down to my Pampers and giggle at the green wetness indicator, “I guess I do need changies.” I smile toward Brian as he unfastens my wet diaper and lifts my legs to slide it away, “UNO was fun. I can’t believe it took three hours.”

Brian chuckles as he works on getting me dry whilst tossing the old wipes into my wet diaper, “Well I’ve been in UNO games that have taken longer.”

My eyes widen as Brian lowers my legs so he can tape my old diaper into a ball, “Really?” I giggle as Brian tosses my old diaper into the diaper pail and lifts my legs with his left hand.

Brian nods as he powders my uplifted bottom, “Yep, one time I played UNO with Denis and his friends, and it took us almost five hours to finish.” Brian lowers my legs so he can shut the powder and grab the fresh Pampers Cruisers diaper. He smiles as he slides the diaper under my bottom and brings the green circle shell up to my belly.

I smile toward Brian as he tapes the new diaper snug around my waist, “Thankies, Brian.”

Brian smiles as he pokes my belly and my giggles echo toward his ears, “Silly Baby gets tummy pokes.”

I giggle and kick my legs allowing my Pampers to crinkle as Brian pokes my belly three more times, “BRIAAAN! Heee…staaaahp!” I giggle and slap his hand away when he tries to poke my belly and I sit up on the changing table. I swing my legs over the edge and jump down. “Thankies, Brian!”

I waddle over to Brian and yawn as I wrap my arms around his leg.

Brian chuckles as he kneels and pulls me into a warm hug, “You’re welcome, Stacinator.” He rises to his full height and walks over to my crib, “And now...” Brian lays me down in my crib and kisses my forehead, “Have a good nap.”

I yawn and rub my eyes as I watch Brian leave my bedroom, “BRIAN!”

Brian turns and finds me standing up in my crib with my hands on the bars, “What?” He walks over and ruffles my hair.

“Don’t leave.” I sniff and raise my arms to him.

Brian chuckles as he lifts me into his arms and walks back to the living room while I rest my head over his shoulder. He alternates between rubbing my back and patting my padded bottom, “I will never leave you, Stacey. Never.”

I smile as I snuggle in Brian’s warm embrace and soon I’m succumbing to nap time.

Brian smiles when he hears my snoring and sits down on the couch with me lying down in his lap. He caresses my hair as he watches me peacefully nap in his lap. “You’re such a precious little brother, Stacey. I love you. Sleep well.”
