Chapter 12
CHAPTER 12

0,2%. That was basically a non-existing possibility. On top of that, his recovery seemed to be slower than anticipated. The doctor said that through some excercises he would have been able to sit in about three weeks and standing in 5 months, had he followed the instructions. So far, 4 months had passed and only finally now sitting on his bum wasn't extreme torture anymore. On top of that, the excercises that were proposed were painfully humiliating. Giorgia had to take his hands and lift him from the ground to have him move his legs. It felt like he was trying to learn his first steps all over again; even worse, all of this made him even more dependent on her.

A couple of weeks ago, she had started going back to work in her off- THEIR office again, which made his days extremely boring. He couldn't believe that he was now so extremely attached to her presence that just her being absent gave him a bad mood. Not too surprising though. Not only they have been in the same job place for over a year, but he also spent the last 4 months being taken care by her on a 24/7 schedule. He still couldn't moves his arms perfectly, nor close hi fingers, forcing her to be the one in charge to mush the food he had to take. AND to feed him. He wasn't sure if he felt more like a baby or an extremely senile man. Either case, nothing was left of his own self-sufficiency.

Despite being rich beyond any imagination, in this house Giorgia's family didn't have cable and after all, he wouldn't have been exactly able to use a remote yet. The only way John could entertain himself was via an old VCR and a pletora of Disney VHSs with cartoons and children films that Giorgia and her little brother used to watch when they were children. He never watched those as a child, so he still managed to find them enjoyable enough. Actually, in a way, they made him feel warm inside. But once they were over, all there was left was a hole, a hole that could only be filled by his coworker coming home.

Coworker... could he even use that word anymore? He wtas once his tutor, but that felt like eons ago... and now she was doing everything, since he couldn't... What if he could never come back to work? What if he was permanently damaged!? Why did he have to crush aganist that rock!? He should have listened to her... he should have never tried skiing on his own... she wasn't trying to be controlling, she was just being caring... she always is... she is never wrong she- he couldn't stop himself from starting crying, he kept on going, he wanted to shout but his jaw didn't allow him to. He was just-

"JOHNNY! JOHNNY!" Giorgia came home. She took him on her arms and tried calming him down. "Ssssh... it's okay..." placing him in only one of her gargantuan arms, she used the other one to switch the TV off with the remote. "Ah... Bambi... it's a very... emotional film... you were a orphane uh? Watching it must have made you think of your missing mommy... I see... it's okay... i'm here now..." she sat down on the sofa and started caressing him. He didn't want to agree with what she was saying, but admitting the truth was even more demeaning, so he just let her cuddle him until falling asleep..

He woke up a little later, she was in the kitchen talking on the phone while cooking. He couldn't stop himself from admiring her figure. She wasn't just beautifuò. She was immense. And gentle. A combination of a perfect body and a perfect personality, all topped by an incredibly smart brain. He had seen her reading sometimes. It wasn't just some novels. Yes, she was fond of them, but her literature knowledge didn't end there. She had plenty of hard science books in her library, from particicle physics to quantum mechanics, chemistry and aereodynamics, all stuff that would scare people away from entering a career. And she read them as a hobby. She was just more.

"Johnny." She called, soothingly. "Glad to see that you have awaken. You had me scared at first, you know? I don't like to see my little boy crying, I'm always in fear you might have hurted yourself. Remember you're NEVER going to hurt yourself again, no matter what." she had started making that remarks very frequently, lately. It felt almost predatory, but he knew she meant well. "I was talking to your doctor. I explained how the results are slow to ameliorate and how your bones are frail. He suggeted to increase the amount of calcium in your diet. In other words, you're going to add a full glass of milk to each meal. Yes, before you protest, we will reduce the amount of everything else. I know your little tummy can only take so much food. So..."

She gave him a sippy cup containing milk. It was by far the best he has ever had, the only other time he had drank something of the same consistency was... at her house during the Christmas party?

Does he still have a beard? Because you mentioned children mistaking him for one, but I am wondering how if he has a beard.
