Chapter Description: Fred had a top level career going. The Virus complicated it, but didn't completely end it. He still gets to do gigs.
Tales from the ARVInn: Fred, the Sound Guy
Fred Carter (11/2008) has had a long career as an audio
engineer/producer. He began as an
apprentice in Nashville, where he worked with many well-known artists in
several genres’ for over twenty years, before contracting the AR Virus, which
left him as an eleven-year-old. Always a
scrambler, he continued to work there for another fifteen years before moving
to the ARVInn in 2073, following the death of his wife, Olivia.
He has become the resident tech director for in-house
entertainment shows and community theater groups in the region, including Ohio
University. He also travels to Nashville
and elsewhere to help with programs and recording sessions. A number of artists
have made use of his talents over the years. He especially likes working with
up-and-coming new artists. Ten of the albums he has produced received CMA
awards and three others, an SGMA award.
His other favorite activity is visiting with his children
and his now three generations of grandchildren.
