Chapter Description: Gary grew up on a farm and loved it. Coming to ARVInn, he naturally got into agriculture. He loved it when a chance find let him show what he could still do.
Tales from the ARVInn: Gary Lainer, Farm Boy
Gary Lainer (8/2014) was a farm boy from the get-go, so
getting the old FarmAid tractor that was found, abandoned, in a barn on a
property the Foundation bought, to run, was not only a duck soup proposition,
it was a sheer delight. He’d not had so
much fun since learning to drive his first tractor at age 7, the first time.
It was worth the dirt, the skinned knuckles and the teasing
from the other grounds crew to be able to fix it, run it and use it almost
every week around the property, even if it did need a new coat of paint.
Coming from Iowa, he’d settled in with the mowing and
ornamental planting, but now he had the chance to actually raise a few garden
crops.
