Chapter 3
Please Believe Me

Chapter Description: Come on Jeremy. You have to believe me.

Well then the little girl arose from her sleep. She took a step to get off the couch and tripped if somewhat off balance. And fell right smack down on her already hurt face, "Oww" She whispered.

She stood clumsily up and saw that Jeremy was sleeping next to the couch. She tapped his shoulder. "Hey wake up Jeremy." Her legs gave out and she sat on the couch.

Jeremy’s eye’s cracked open. "Oh hey I see your awake. How bad does it hurt? She looked at her arms and legs and she realized she was all bandaged up. "Jeremy what happened?" She said. Jeremy said "You got a nice konk on the head. How do you know my name anyway and more importantly why were you on the side of the road?" She said "Jeremy I..." (Her mind went blank) she didn’t know. "How old are you?" "What do you mean?" She said confused. "You know how old I am."

Jeremy said "No I don’t little girl." "What do you mea..." As she was finishing what she was saying Jeremy stood up towering over her and she said "How are you so tall" She looked at her hand. It looked smaller than normal. Jeremy said "Lets get you cleaned up and he picked her up and took her down stairs to the kitchen. It was weird for her being held like that.

She let him know that she wanted to be put down. So he did but her beat up legs couldn’t take it. It was strange this backwards feeling. He had always been the one who got hurt and she would always bandage him. "It was kinda nice though" she thought even with the givin circumstances.

He sat her tiny body on the table and started taking off the bandages. She said "Can I do it please." He smiled and said "okay." She had a hard time getting them off but she eventually did it. Then he said "Okay miss big girl, let me get a warm rag and get some rubbing alcohol." He held up a mirror so she could see her face and she just stared at the reflection looking back at her?

"What’s wrong?" he said " "Oh... Well I just..." She was about to finish but then Jeremy’s grandmother walked in "Oh your up little one, how do you feel?" It was degrading having to respond to little one but she did anyway.

She was rubbing at her cuts and bruises pretty ferociously. Jeremy never really tried too hard when it came to alot of things. What made her so special if he really didn’t know who she was. "Maybe he did know and he just wanted to be sure." She thought.

At this point Jeremy thought to himself about the possiblity of this girl being stacey. After all she did look like her, only even younger than when he first met her. She had the same color hair, eyes, and well of coarse skin. But that birthmark on the side of her neck threw him off a bit. it was circular with 3 , well, what appeared to be triangles around it.

He said whats that birthmark you got on your neck there.

She said "Birthmark? what ..." Then she had a flashback of a dark room with men in white coats, and she held her head tightly and fell off the table into Jeremy’s arms. "It’s alright" he said.

She felt so frail, so helpless, it was the epitome of sadness for her. She wanted for Jeremy to know who she really was.

Jeremy knew her head hurt so he started looking for something for her head. He said "You want some ice?"

What was she going to say, no? "Yea." She muttered. "Now lets redress those wounds." He said.

He was looking for the headache medicine. Then Stacey said "Left medicine cabnet." He stared at her and said "How did you..?" Then he ran somewhere. He came back with the bandana he had earlier. "What does this mean to you?" He said holding the bandana in front of her face. She said "It was a gift to me for my 14th birthday."

He hugged her "Stacey!"
