(9/2028), 2065: “My return to bowling was awkward, humiliating and
thoroughly fun. I’ve been a bowler since
childhood and had become pretty good at it in league play over the years. At 5’10” and 170 pounds, a 16-pound ball was
just fine and usually gave me the pin action I wanted. After the AR Virus, having bounced as age 9,
I wanted to get back to as much of my former life as I could.
“I was back to work at the Trenton Public Library just six weeks after my bounce. Of course, being 4’4” and 58 pounds, I had an interesting time shelving books or moving any quantity around. I had more success doing ordering and processing and at the circulation desk, where I definitely drew some odd looks for the first few weeks. I even tried working the Children’s Collection, where you’d think it would be easier, but the kids were more fascinated by me than by my stories, so that really didn’t go well.
"Almost three months after I bounced, I went to the Rec Center for the first time to try my luck on the lanes...
