Vacations End.

Chapter 2
Repercussions

Andrea was contemplating going back to talk to Daniel

and explain herself when Christopher’s vehicle pulled up

to the curb. He jumped out and ran over to make sure she

was alright because he was clueless as to what had

happened. When Andrea had called, she just asked him

to hurry and come get her; no other explanation as to why

were included. She stood up and tried to wipe the leftover

tears from her face as Christopher approached. They

exchanged looks and instead of asking for a lengthy

explanation right there, Christopher escorted her to the

car, helping her inside. He stepped around to the driver’s

side, looking around for Daniel, and after seeing no sign

of him he stepped into the car, and drove off. During their

drive, Andrea tried to compose herself while Christopher

remained quiet, waiting for the right moment to say

anything. Finally, Andrea apologized for being so abrupt

on the phone. He took this opportunity to ask what had

happened. Andrea explained what Daniel had done and

then she went into further detail by explaining why it had

upset her so much. It came out that it was not the fact

that he proposed, as much as the fact that Andrea was

extremely caught off guard by her own emotional reaction

to it. She reciprocated the feelings and was shocked to

find out that despite all the flaws she felt she had, Daniel

felt for her, the way she felt for him. Because of the way

she reacted, she thought she had ruined the entire thing,

which threw her emotions into overdrive. Instead of

staying and trying to change the way things had

happened, she took off running. Christopher responded to

Andrea’s story by asking her why in the world she would

think that a man would have no interest in her. He told

her that he thought that she was a beautiful, vivacious

woman. He stated that a woman as young as her could

get any man she wanted. At this Andrea scoffed, she told

Christopher that she looks a lot older than she is, despite

the fact that she is 23. She proceeded to complain about

how she feels uncomfortable in a swimsuit during the

summer, and no one would catch her dead in a bikini

because of her ?flabby’ stomach. Andrea went on and on

about this, it got to the point where Christopher was

coming up with ideas in his head that may help with her

self esteem issues.

Back at the restaurant parking lot, Daniel had seen the

two get into the vehicle together and he began to run

towards them yelling just loud enough that it would not be

distractive to the people around the place. Unfortunately,

he was not loud enough and the two had gotten into the

vehicle and pulled away. Daniel proceeded at this point to

jump into his own car and follow them. He was hoping that

they were headed back to the vacation condo. If they

were, his plan was to meet up with them there and ask for

forgiveness from Andrea. He wanted her to know that he

was sorry if he had in any way overstepped the limits of

their friendship. He preferred to have her as a friend

rather than not have her at all. As he drove towards his

destination, he was surprised to find himself soon caught

up to Christopher’s vehicle. In his head he played over

and over how he had upset her in his mind and how he

planned to make it right as soon as he got the chance. He

would reach the condo at the same time as they would

since he was only two cars behind them.

Christopher was a scientist and it was due to this fact

that he felt he could ?help’ Andrea. He envisioned one of

his most recent projects, a body image serum that he had

worked on for a long time. He had even paid many men

and women to test it for him, each with only positive

results. There were some who complained of signs of

aging, and with the help of the serum, those signs were

quickly reversed. He thought of how the men that he

tested the serum on showed increased signs of vitality and

strength. In fact, the vials of the tested serum were in the

backseat of his car right now; he had planned on

delivering them to his lab in the morning so they could be

diluted. In their concentrated form, they had not been

tested, and it was uncertain how such a pure sample would

cause the recipient to react. However, the diluted portion

had been tested and in small doses it could possibly do

the trick. He would only need to ensure that she received

the correct serum, the red, not the blue. It was with the

last thought of success in his head that he turned to

Andrea and told her simply, “I can help you.” Andrea was

still visibly upset yet she smiled through her tears.

Christopher made a left turn onto the St. Louisville Street

Bridge while he was still envisioning his revelations of

science; he failed to take notice of the black jeep that ran

the red light. At the last second he swerved away from the

vehicle trying to avoid a collision. After swerving,

Christopher hit the side railing of the bridge and the car

flipped and rolled over the rail and down the side of a hill,

coming to a stop at the bottom near the embankment of

a creek.
