Operation

Chapter 5

In the short amount of time it took for all of this to

happen, Christopher was chasing behind Andrea until

Daniel had her in his grasp. Unfortunately, when he saw

Daniel turn her and hit hard against her leg, he also saw

the remaining portion of the vile crush into her leg. Just as

quickly as that happened, the remaining serum was forced

into her body with little chance of escape. Christopher

immediately knew that Andrea had just absorbed a

concentrated amount of the blue serum into her system.

The consequences of which would most likely be

devastating to both Andrea, as well as Daniel. Then came

the scream, the clarity, and the collapse.

The moment he saw the clarity in her eyes, Daniel

began rushing towards Andrea, just in time to hear his

name called, and then catch her before she collapsed to

the ground. He immediately began to scream to her,

trying to wake her but it was no use; she lay still in his

arms, her head rested heavily against his chest.

Approaching the couple, Christopher dropped to his knees,

trying to help Daniel look over Andrea to see if she was

ok.

“She may have just passed out from the shock of

everything. Give her time to wake up, but for now let’s get

her home so we can assess any wounds she might have.

Daniel stood up, putting Andrea’s arm around his neck

and scooping her up into his arms. The jostling of the

actions awoke Andrea for a brief second. She opened her

eyes, smiled, looking at Daniel and mumbled, “Daddy.”

No sooner did she say this that she fell back into her

comatose state, her head falling backwards. Daniel

bounced her in order to get a better grip and allow her to

lay her head against his chest. He looked at

Christopher, “Yea, let’s go, she is completely out of it.”

The duo, with Andrea in tow, mumbling incoherent

things in her sleeping state, headed towards Daniel’s

vehicle. Daniel gently placed Andrea into the backseat of

the vehicle, trying not to move her in any way that would

hurt her. Then they got into the car and sped towards the

house. While in the car, Daniel called his lab, so that they

could retrieve his car. When asked by Christopher why he

didn’t call someone like AAA, he stated that the items in

his vehicle needed to be handled with the utmost care.

This made Daniel feel weird about anything that may have

happened during their time together in the car before the

wreck, but his main focus right now was to get Andrea to

the house as quickly as possible. They arrived at the

house, and both men jumped out of the vehicle.

Christopher ran to get the door and the lights switched on

I the house, and then came back to see if Daniel need

any help getting Andrea out of the car. Although he

managed to get her out, it wasn’t until she was completely

clear of the car door that he turned to face Christopher. It

was then, in true light, that they both saw how bad Andrea

really looked.

She had a gash across her head, and her arms were

already bruising over from the accident. Her clothes were

torn everywhere, caked with mud and mixed with blood

from the accident. Further down, they both took notice of

her upper left thigh. There was the end of a glass vial

stuck deep into her skin, in fact, the blood had already

started clot around it in an attempt to heal the skin. With

a gasp, Daniel stated they needed to go to the hospital

instead of here. He turned to put her back into the car,

but Christopher grabbed his arm, telling him that he had

the necessary equipment to expel and clean the wound

upstairs. Much to his chagrin, Daniel thought that the

faster they pulled the glass from her the better, so if

Christopher had the necessary things to do so here at the

condo, then it was best to take her upstairs. As they

headed upstairs, Andrea mumbled incoherently. Daniel

looked down at his true love and trying to console her he

whispered, “It’s ok Andrea, we will fix everything.”

"Daddy.” Andrea mumbled, still unconscious. Following

Christopher, Daniel carried Andrea in to the kitchen area,

where Christopher had already laid a blanket from the hall

closet across the table.

“Put her down there.” Christopher ordered. Daniel laid

Andrea across the table, trying to be careful not to hit her

leg on anything that would cause the glass to be pushed

further in.

Christopher turned around with a needle in his hand, to

which Daniel immediately questioned what it was for.

Christopher stated that in order for him to expel the glass

in Andrea’s leg, he wanted to ensure that she was

completely asleep. So the needle had a strong sedative in

it, and it should help to soothe her if she were to come to

during the expulsion of the object. Not knowing what else

to say, Daniel agreed to it, and so Christopher

administered the drug to Andrea. Then they waited for

what seemed like forever so that the drug could take

effect. The only problem being that with Andrea already

unconscious, there was no way to tell if the drug was

working, it was basically a 50/50 shot. Pulling out all that

he felt would be of use to the situation; Christopher pulled

on a pair of gloves and set himself to work. It seemed

like hours before he was confident that all of the remnants

of the glass had been removed, but finally he set his

instruments down and turned towards Daniel.

“Look I think I got it all, but we really need to talk.”

Christopher stated, rather resigned to what he needed to

do.
