Chapter 9
Sitting Andrea on the floor next to the dining room
table, so that she would not fall from a chair, Christopher
looked at Daniel and simply said, “I’m sorry.” Daniel
looked from Christopher down to Andrea who sat on the
floor, a full grown woman, sucking on her thumb, staring
inquisitively at the two men. Daniel looked back to
Christopher and asked what they were going to do; he
wanted to know if there was any way of reversing this, of
saving the woman he loved.
Before Christopher had the chance to answer, Andrea
interrupted them by crying, and a fresh set of tears that
were flowing down her small oval face. Daniel rushed to
her side pulling her into his strong arms, trying to calm
her and figure out what was the matter. Andrea continued
to cry and it was Christopher that came over to see that
she was favoring her thumb.
“I think she bit her thumb while she was sucking on it.”
Christopher stated. He gently took hold of her thumb and
began to blow softly on it. Immediately Andrea stopped
crying and looked up at him, still sniffling but much calmer
than a few moments prior.
Daniel bent over her and kissed her head, talking softly
telling her it was okay. She then realized that she was in
his arms and not Christopher’s, and suddenly she was
reaching out to Christopher again. Daniel let her go so as
to not upset her, but as he did so he questioned why she
was so against him. If she had regressed then there
should be no memory of her anger towards him. He just
couldn’t figure it out, but it really wasn’t the bigger of his
worries. He told Christopher that since Andrea had a
preference for him, he was going to go to the store and
grab some things that they might need until they could
figure out a remedy for this situation. Christopher just
nodded, and then went to sit on the floor next to the
young infantile woman who currently had taken a
fascination with her toes. Daniel grabbed the keys from
the doorstep stand, and walked out the door.
Christopher stood up from the floor and grabbed Andrea
up into his arms. While he had no interruptions or
hovering eyes, he wanted to do some testing to see if
there was any way of reversing the process. He took
Andrea upstairs to the room adjacent to his lab and sat
her on the floor. He turned on the television to Barney,
and placed some pillows and a blanket down by Andrea.
Before he walked away he took the gate that he had been
using to keep his dog in the other room and placed it in
the doorway so Andrea couldn’t get out. At least this way
he knew she would be safe for the time being. As he
walked away from the room, he glanced over to see how
she was doing. Andrea sat in the middle of the blankets
sucking her thumb, while she watched the program with
wide eyes.
He knew that she had the blue serum in her body, which
affected the mind only. If she had received the red serum
as well, then her body would have regressed, and it was
apparent that this had not happened. He pulled the
remaining vials of serum from the cabinet. They were his
backup supply in case anything happened to the ones he
sent to the lab; unfortunately they never made it that far,
so it was good that he had kept these here. Christopher
sat up his Bunsen burner and proceeded to test a variety
of methods that he thought might reverse the situation.
Finally, he was ready to test it on a subject. He couldn’t do
so on Andrea, so he did the only thing he could. He had to
test it on Sally, his dog.
While he waited for the serum to take effect,
Christopher decided to check on Andrea. At first, when he
reached the doorway, he thought something was wrong
because she wasn’t moving. He almost tripped trying to
get over the gate to reach her faster. Once he was on his
knees next to her, he heard a soft snoring coming from
her body. She had only fallen asleep while watching
Barney, on her pillow was a wet spot from where she had
drooled behind her thumb. He brushed her hair out of her
face and just watched her as she slept so peacefully. It
wasn’t until he heard a noise in the background that he
looked away.
The noise that he heard was a whimpering... a puppy
whimpering! The first part was to try and regress Sally, and
then he could test the counter serum, which wouldn’t take
as long to take effect. He drew the serum and injected it
into the whimpering puppy-like yet full sized dog. Instead
of getting what he had hoped for, Sally the dog instantly
started to regress in size to match her mindset. There was
nothing else that could be done; Andrea was stuck with an
infantile mind.
Downstairs a door opened and closed. Christopher
breathed a heavy sigh, and went down to tell Daniel that
all hope was lost’ praying that he wouldn’t do something
that he’d regret.
Vacations End.
