Chapter 6: I would like a HAMBURGer for a STAR(R) (Part 1)

They arrived at the Indra Club in Hamburg, Germany, as it appeared in August of 1960. The outside of the club was made in red stone or brick. It had two windows at eye level. The door’s gate was decorated with a picture of an Elvis like figure and a drum set in the top two corners, and the bottom right corner was decorated with a picture a what looks to be a saxaphone.

"Alright. We will be getting off of the bus at this time. Very few people know this, but in the audience were four moubians who later started the first German moubian Beatles tribute band in 1968, so most of us should be able to fight in," The male courrier stated as he scanned his eyes over the passenger’s apperal, "Good, most of you shouldn’t stick out. Well, off you go then. Remember to come back into the bus right after The Beatles’ first set." The male courrier walked off the bus and Miss Winters was standing by the exit of the bus to make sure nobody was carrying anything ahead of the era.

The passengers got off one by one. Connor was the last one to step out. He was carrying his paperback copy of Wicked. Miss Winters stopped him before he got out.

"The book you’re holding is Wicked, I presume? That book won’t be published for at least another 30 years." Miss Winters said to the teen.

"I know," Connor replied, "but I’m a little worried about keeping it on the bus. Hamburg isn’t the safest place to be in, and now that we will actually be seen, I think it would be in danger of getting stolen if I left it here."

Miss Winters smiled.

"That’s very cautious of you. Tell you what, I’ll keep it safe in my purse. It’s a rather small copy of the book, so it’ll fit without any danger of slipping out." Miss Winters said with a giggle. Connor handed her his book as he walked out of the bus. She placed the book in her purse and followed after Connor.

As they went inside the club, the owner of it was stepping onto the stage. He was a rather tall man wearing a formal suit. The man stepped to center stage and the audience applauded.

The passengers from the tour bus were all the way in the back, but since most of the others in the club were sitting at tables, and the passengers were standing, they could see the stage just fine. The man cleared his throat and began to speak.

"Damen und Herren des Indra schlagen, es ist mein Vergnügen, Sie zu tonight’ vorzustellen mit einer Keule; s-Felsengruppe." The man said.

"Ladies and Gentlemen of the Indra Club, it is my pleasure to introduce you to tonight’s rock group." The male courrier translated quietly to the passengers.

"Sie sind vier Jugendliche, die vollständig von Liverpool, England gereist sind, zum für Sie heute Abend durchzuführen."

"They are four teenagers who have travelled all the way from Liverpool, England, to perform for you tonight."

"Ihre Namen sind John Lennon, Paul McCartney, bester Peter und Stuart Stutcliffe."

"Their names are John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Pete Best, and Stuart Stutcliffe."

"Es ist mein Vergnügen zum presnt zu Ihnen, das Beatles!"

"It is my pleasure to presnt to you, The Beatles!"

The crowd applauded as The Beatles walked on stage. They began to play and sing "Young Blood"

"I saw her standin’ on the corner

A yellow ribbon in her hair

I couldn’t stop myself from shoutin

Look a-there Look a-there

Look a-there Look a-there

Young blood, young blood, young blood

I can’t get you out of my mind

I took one look and I was fractured

I tried to walk but I was lame

I tried to talk but I just stuttered

What’s your name What’s your name

What’s your name What’s your name

Young blood, young blood, young blood

I can’t get you out of my mind

What crazy stuff She looked so tough

I had to follow her all the way home

Then things went bad; I met her dad

He said, "You’d better leave my daughter alone"

I couldn’t sleep a wink for tryin’

I saw the rising of the sun

And all night my heart was cryin’

You’re the one, you’re the one

You’re the one, you’re the one

Young blood, young blood, young blood

I can’t get you out of my mind"

The Beatles continued playing for an hour. In between songs, one of the members would eat or drink. As soon as the set was over, The Beatles got off the stage.

Connor was quick to see this and ran around the crowd in hopes of getting a glimpse of hs favourite Beatle, Paul McCartney. Coincidently, he and the 18 year old McCartney bumped into eachover and fell to the ground.

"Hey, watch where you’re going." Paul said as he stood up. Connor coud hardly keep in his excitement as he pulled out a circa 1960 or before photo of Paul McCartney.

"Ah, I see Mike gave you a photo of me. I’ll sign it, if that’s what you want me to do." Paul grabbed the photo and signed it. As he did this, Connor also got out his camera without thinking. Paul handed Connor the photo back and noticed it.

"That’s a strange camera if I ever saw one. Where’d you get it?" Paul inqured.

Connor was stuck in a rut on what to do. He decided to lie to the best of his abilty.

"M-My dad made this camera himself." Connor replied. Paul cocked his head to one side.

"A homemade camera, eh? You’re dad must be very skilled." Well,if you want to take a pciture with me, that’s fine."

Connor stood next to Paul and turned the camera toward them. Paul smiled as Connor pressed the button on his camera. A flash sound was heard, but no flash was seen. Only the light from the camera.

"Well see ya." Connor said as he rushed out of there, hoping he wasn’t too long.
