Chapter 5
Lennon McCartney madness

Chapter Description: A little more focus on Beatles history begins in this chapter

Chapter 5: Lennon-McCartney madness!

As the bus came to a hault, the surroundings outside of the bus looked different. They looked as if it was 52 years in the past. The houses looked very old fashioined along with the cars. In the distance they saw children playing at an orphanage called Strawberry Fields.

"Well, here we are! Liverpool, 52 years ago. It looks different doesn’t it," the female courier stated. As the bus drove further, the passengers saw a band performing at a church. Any Beatlemaniac on the bus knew it was The Quarrymen, but for the other passengers, they found out when the bus entered the area. As they looked around, Lennon maniacs reconginized the guy playing the guitar in the midle of the stage as John Lennon.

"Now folks, most of you’ve seen the holiday classic called, "A Christmas Carol," right? Well like Ebezener Scrouge and The ghost of Christmas past, we will not be able to interact with this scene. It’s just like watching a documentary on The Beatles." The male courrier stated.

In the back of the bus, Aleena was too busy playing with her now infant son to listen to the courier. The others, including the now infant fox Tails, were listening to every single word the courier uttered out of his mouth. Connor was sad that he coudln’t react with John or Paul in this seen, but he understood why. If anybody changed this, then The Beatles would not form. Connor sighed and looked out the window. He saw John Lennon and his band playing a few 50’s rock songs styled as skiffle. It sound a lot like bluegrass trying to be rock n roll, but he knew that this is where The Beatles devoloped their style.

"I’m John Lennon, and we are The Quarrymen!" John yelled. Everybody was listening to the performance enjoying most of it. When it was over, the courier then took the mic again.

"That was good show wasn’t it? Now we will go backstage to view Paul and John’s first meeting." Miss Winters stated. The driver pushed on the gas, and the bus sped to the back of the stage at 87 mph, which got them there in less than a minute. Backstage they saw too easily recognizable figures: John Lennon, and Paul McCartney.

Connor was about to squeal like a little girl out of joy, but remembered that it was just like watching a Beatles documentary. He sighed as the two future Beatles started talking.

"Who are you?" John inquired. The two stared eachother down. Even though Paul was younger than John, he was the same height as him. Paul cleared his throat and replied, "I’m Paul McCartney. I loved the show, and I’d like to join your group."

John looked at Paul with curious eyes as he replied, "Show me what you can do." John handed Paul his guitar. Once Paul had it in his grasp, he held it in a left handed postion. John was shocked and said,"You’re a lefty?" Paul nodded and played all the strings open to check if they’re in tune.He noticed that they sounded oddly out of tune. Paul started tuning each individual string to the pitches of E, B, G, A, and a low E.

"It seems you had it tuned to the tuning of a banjo." Paul stated. He then started playing the song "Twenty flight rock" and also sang it.

"Oh well, I’ve got a girl with a record machine

When it comes to rockin’ she’s the queen

We love to dance on a Saturday night

All alone, I can hold her tight

But she lives in a twentiest floor up town

The elevator’s broken down

So I walked one, two flight, three flight, four

Five, six, seven flight, eight flight more

Up on the twelfth I started to drag

Fifteenth floor I’m ready to sag

Get to the top, I’m too tired to rock

When she calles me up on the telephone

Said c’mon over honey, I’m all alone

I said baby, you’re mighty sweet

But I’m in the bed with a achin’ feet

This went on for a couple of days

But I couldn’t stay away

So I walked one, two flight, three flight, four

Five, six, seven flight, eight flight more

Up on the twelfth I’m ready to drag

Fifteenth floor I started to sag

Get to the top, I’m too tired to rock

(Guitar solo)

Well, they sent to Chicago for repairs

’Till it’s a-fixed I’m using the stairs

Hope they hurry up before it’s too late

Want my baby too much to wait

All this climbin’ is gettin’ me down

They’ll find my corpse draped over a rail

But I climbed one, two flight, three flight, four

Five, six, seven flight, eight flight more

Up on the twelfth I’m ready to drag

Fifteenth floor I started to sag

Get to the top, I’m too tired to rock "

John was amazed him knowing all the lyirics. He then pondered whether or not he should be in the band. He might steal attention from me, Lennon thought. John finally made his decision.

"Alright McCartney, you can be in the band." John said. This filled Paul’s heart with joy.

"And that is how John and Paul met. Next stop, Hamburg, Germany!" the male courier stated. The bus sped its way to the to a club in Hamburg, Germany as it appeared in May of 1960.
