When one of the worst senior classes is close to graduation the government takes action to prevent this group of misfits from going out into society.
Chapter Description: The end of the school year is coming and the class of 2015 can't wait to be done with high school.
Nick stared at the teacher with a smirk across his face.
"How are you guys going to pass the final if you don’t even understand the identity properties. Most of you need to ace this final or it’s going to be summer school for you. You can’t give up now. You are so close. Just hang in there." Mr S was going out of his mind with this class. It was as if all the seniors had given up junior year. Their class had been one of the worst yet. Most of the students wen’t going to college because of their low GPAs and even the ones that were, only got in because of their parents bank accounts. They didn’t do any of the work and the ones that actually attempted the work still had absolutely no idea what they were doing. It’s not the teachers faults. The juniors that were in the same classes as the seniors were doing absolutely fine. Mr S had seen senioritis before, but this was a whole different level of it. He had no idea how any of these kids would function out in the real world with so little ambition for anything. There’s always those group of kids that completely give up, but with class it seemed like they all had just stopped caring. The class of 2016 had never really been good. They had the lowest testing scores in the state and they just never seemed to get better. The government has audited the teachers many times and found that it wasn’t the teachers fault for the bad scores.
The bell rang and Nick strolled out with a smile on his face. The weekend at last. It’s not like he really did anything during the week anyway, but just having to sit there and listen for 7 hours a day was excruciating. He went out into the parking lot and sat in his Chevy Colorado waiting for his brother Matt. Matt was a freshman and was one of the lucky few who had siblings to drive them home. The rest had to endure the bus. Nick in a way resented Matt because he was the more loved child. He was smart and he never really did anything wrong. His mom would always yell at him for his grades and would praise Matt for his never ending streak of A’s. Nick was going to community college next year and would still be living with his parents. He didn’t hate his parents, but they had always been hard on him for his academics. His Dad was a business man and usually traveled so he was gone for weeks at times which left his mom to take care of him and Matt.
Nick and Matt drove home not really talking. They never had been really close. When they got home Matt went off to do homework while Nick just laid down on the couch and watched whatever was on as he drifted off to sleep.
Nick woke up to his mom gently shaking him. "Nick," she said as he opened his eyes. "I just ordered a pizza to be delivered. I left money on the counter."
"Why, where are you going?" he asked noticing the time.
"I’m going to your school. The parents have to go to that thing remember?"
"Oh yeah." All the parents who had kids who where graduating had to go to some lecture at the school auditorium so they knew what they needed to get done for graduation. "Have fun," Nick said as his mom left.
Nick and Matt watched a horror movie as they ate their pizza. Nick for the rest of the night just played games till his mom came home. She came home at around 8:30 and came into his room saying "I’m back."
"How was the meeting or whatever it was."
"Boring. It was just talking about graduation stuff and what we need. Had to fill out forms for your cap and gown. Also they talked about how you all will be receiving booster shots at school on Monday."
"Why?" nick asked.
"I don’t know. Something about a virus going around. They just said it would be a good idea to make sure everyone has their vaccines and besides they thought they would just do them since most colleges require the students to be up to date on shots."
"oh, okay" said Nick finding it weird. He had never had to get a shot in school before. and a virus? It was almost the summer. Nick brushed it off and went to bed watching TV.
The graduating class of...
