Chapter 2
Going some more shopping

Chapter Description: Peter goes on a bigger shopping spree even though he knows of the cards limit

Chapter 2:

Going Shopping some more

The very next day, I still couldn’t believe that a simple gift card could hold such powers. My wife was trying to convince me more and more to go and buy more things and be young again. But I still thought it was too good to be true. How could a simple little gift card hold the powers of the fountain of youth. My wife Mary tried to convince me that it did and I should use it more. Finally she convinced me to use it again.

Later that day, I had to be sure this was true, so I went to best buy and bought tons of movies. I bought and I bought. Every time I paid for something, I felt a wonderful feeling. Like I had more energy. It wasn’t till I got to my car where I found that the card did its job again. In the rear view mirror starring back at me was my old 35 yr old self. Now I knew that this card had the ability to make me young again.

I quickly went home to show my new look to my family.

“See honey I told you that the card was making you younger. You look the same as the day we got married.” said Mary

“I hate to admit but you were right. I look great” I said

“Dad, maybe if you use that card enough, you will be the same age as me. That would be a great late Christmas gift. Being able to play with my dad as a kid.” said Dylan

“I wont be going that young. If I did, it would be hard to pay the bills if I am too young to have a job.”

“But you could be a little younger. You will be able to retire later then you expected.” said Mary

“I guess you right. I will do it and stop once I reach around 29. I don’t want to be young enough to be Jessica’s little brother.”

“Daddy, if you do become younger then me I promise to play with you and be the best older sister in the world.” said Jessica

“I am sure that’s true, but I wont get that young.”

I didn’t go spend the gift card right away. I first waited a week just so I could get used to being 35 again. Then on January 4th, I decided it was time. I headed to the mall this time by myself and man did I go on a shopping spree. I bought tons of things, jewelry for Mary, video games for Dylan, dolls for Jessica, fishing supplies for myself. Every time I bought something I became a little younger. I didn’t care as long as I stopped at the right age. After two hours of shopping, I decided I needed to see my reflection. So I went into a bathroom and looked at my reflection. Starring back at me was myself only this time I was 29. I knew this was a good age to stop at. But on the way out the mall. I saw something I needed to buy, no matter the cost. It was a Yacht and man was it a beauty. I knew I needed it so I met up with a salesman.

“Ok, Mr. Smith; everything is in order. How do you wish to pay? Check or Credit Card?” asked the salesman

“Gift Card.” I said

At first he thought I was joking but when he checked the card and saw that it had enough money on it for a Yacht, he scanned it. But when he turned around, the 29 yr old that was one moment ago sitting in the chair, now there was a boy no older then 8 years old sitting in his place.

I couldn’t believe how big the world had gotten in a second. At first I was confused but I remembered and thought I was an idiot.

“Son where did you come from and where was the adult that was here a moment ago.”

I knew that the salesman wouldn’t believe that I was that man and that every time I use the gift card I become younger. So I came up with a story.

“My dad told me to wait here while he left and if everything was done before he came back ask for the gift card back.” I said

The salesman at first didn’t believe the story but realized myself as a 8 yr old didn’t look that much different then when I was 29. So he believed me that I was my son.

“Ok, tell your dad to come here later to sign some paperwork to get everything settled.”

He then gave me back the gift card and I quickly ran off and looked for a pay phone to call Mary to pick me up.

“You did what?!” asked Mary in shock

“I bought a Yacht without thinking and now I am 8 years old.” I explained

“Alright I will come and pick you up at the fountain and do not spend anymore. I do not want to raise my husband as a baby.”

I waited by the fountain for a half hour and then Mary came to pick me up.

“I don’t believe I have to re raise my own husband because he could resist the urge not spend too much on a gift card that made him younger.”

“I am sorry, I promise I will be a good son to you and......”

Before I could finish, I felt a big urge and ran to the video game store.

At first Mary didn’t notice me but after 4 minutes she noticed I was gone and then heard something she did not want to hear. In a video game store there was a sound of a baby crying. People were wondering whose child this was and why was it holding a bag full of video games and systems.

Mary quickly went over to the store and saw that he husband had bought thousands of dollars worth of games and as a result had now turned into a baby no older then 9 months. Mary picked him up and people believed she was the mother since the baby was good to her and she left the store.

“Peter I don’t believe that you let this happen to you. I guess Jessica will have a baby brother after all.”

Mary was a good wife to me, we learned that when I person uses the card, they have the urges that a person that age would have. So that would explain why I had the urge to spend thousands of dollars worth of games since I was a kid.

My kids Dylan and Jessica had a blast having their dad as their baby brother. I didn’t mind it myself. I was actually fun. I played with Dylan and his toys and Jessica played house with me and since I was now a baby I was the baby.

The next year at Christmas even though I was now not even 2 I put the gift card my wife had given it to me and gave it to her. Maybe she would have better luck or maybe she wouldn’t. But my gut feeling was she would have the same problem.
