Chapter Description: Dreams are said to be a gateway to another world, but unfortuantely for Susan, you can't choose what world you go to, or what world you wake up to.
I had a dream that night, or perhaps it was more like a nightmare. I was sleeping in my bed peacefully, but then the tingling started to shake throughout my body. Try as I did to calm down I couldn’t stop it. The room grew around me. I tried to call out for someone, someone who could help me, but my words soon turned into gibberish, baby talk. I tried to move but I found that I couldn’t even turn over. I was nothing more then a helpless baby, and all I could do was cry.
“Oh, what’s wrong my little baby?” A woman’s voice called out. I looked up and found Allison standing over me. I tried to do something, stand, crawl, roll anything to get away from her but I couldn’t. Her enormous hands came and swooped me up. She held me close to her body and whispered to me “Ssh... Sssh... its all right little Susie. Your mommy is here now,” as she gently rocked me in her arms. The worst part was it was actually kind of nice to be up against her warm body and I started to relax and calm down. I felt so small and so weak; I may not have been older then a newborn baby. “Oh are you hungry my little baby?” she asked me. She unhooked her bra and pulled out her right breasts, large and full with milk. She moved my tiny little head right next to her breast. I tried to move away but I couldn’t, I just started sucking on the nipple as Allison held me.
It was at that point that I woke up; thankful that was only a dream. But that thankfulness soon turned into fear once more. My pajamas seemed to have grown on me while I slept. The words Alison told me still fresh in mind, that it was only a matter of time before other people didn’t have to make me upset or scared, that I would eventually do that all on my own. I didn’t want to look to see how young I was now, it didn’t matter. Even if I somehow found a way to expose Alison’s plans to Richard, would I be able to even say anything? I just stayed awake for the rest of the night, too afraid to go to sleep. I was amazed at how much my imagination grew as I regressed. Every little creek that our house made me shiver a bit. I even thought I saw a pair of red eyes stare at me from our closet.
When the morning sun came in through the window I got up, thankful that for the time being I could still walk. I passed by the growth chart that we still had in the room and I stared up at the notch that I had the last time I measured myself, which was a few days ago. I was at about four feet four inches a few days ago, but then again a few days ago I was ten years old too. From the looks of it, I lost about a foot since then. I sighed a bit and decided to find something that would fit me better. I raid the closet to find one of Samantha’s old outfits. To think that I actually have to wear my youngest daughter’s clothes...
I decided to head down stairs and grab some breakfast. Heading to the door, I realized that the knob was much closer to my eyesight then I would have liked. And walking to the kitchen, I couldn’t help but notice that the bathroom door was open. A girl of about four passed by the bathroom mirror as I did, looking so much like the toddler that I had become. When I made it to the kitchen, a thought occurred to me how I was to get the cereal kept on the countertop that was now beyond my reach.
“Need some help?” A familiar voice called from behind me. Samantha. I turned around and started to look down out of habit, but I actually only came up to half way up her chest.
“Uh, yeah. I wanted some cereal.”
“Here Susie let me help you,” Samantha said as she got the cereal down from the counter and grabbed two bowls. I tried pouring the cereal and milk myself but I ended up making quite a big mess. That milk gallon as quite a lot heavier then I expected that it would be. Samantha helped me clean it up. Unlike some other daughter of mine, Samantha was very helpful with my unfortunate circumstance. Tomorrow would be Samantha’s 10th birthday, but she wasn’t showing any signs of excitement about it. Last year, she was excited about her birthday for months in advance, showing us pictures of toys that she wanted. It actually concerned me a little bit that she didn’t mention anything.
“Samantha, are you excited for your birthday in three days?” I asked her.
“Well...I guess I am...but...” she said looking away.
“But what?”
“I’m worried about you Mommy.”
“Oh, sweetie. It’s your birthday. Don’t worry about me. Now come on, isn’t there a toy or something you are looking for?”
“All I want is to have my Mom back.” Hearing that brought a tear to my eyes. Samantha really needed a mother in her life, Megan too. And as much as I would like to be that mother, I couldn’t be and I may never be able to be again.
Carrie came over today and Samantha and I had a lot of fun playing hide and seek. The game seemed very fun to me, no doubt because my mind was that of a small child’s now. I relied on obvious hiding spots, such as hiding in the curtains, only to be discovered very quickly. The game did wear Samantha and me out, and the three of us decided to relax on the couch for a little bit. Samantha was the most worn out and she was fast asleep.
“So I see the regression hasn’t stopped any.” Carrie said.
“Yeah, and even worse is that I can do it to myself now.”
“Any of the doctors call back?”
“No.” And I really have doubts that they ever will call back. “But I do know that me regressing wasn’t an accident.” I then explained to Carrie all about Allison and how she was planning to steal Richard from me.
“Wow. That’s horrible!” Carrie exclaimed.
“So, now I have to figure out away to stop her, and stop getting younger.”
“Well, I bet that office computer might give some doctors an idea of how to treat it.”
“Yeah, but I’d never be able to get back to that office.”
“Well, maybe I could do it.”
“You would do that for me?”
“Sure, I’ll definitely try to it. Besides, sneaking into a place like that could be fun.”
“Oh Carrie! Thank you so much!” I gave her a great big hug. Maybe everything would be alright now. Carrie said that she would go to the office building the next day. I couldn’t help but be excited as I fell asleep that night. I know it was a long shot, but there was still a chance that this would make me big again. It couldn’t make things worse after all.
