Lab Work Part 01

Karyn Carlin walked up to the house where the small ad said a lab assistant was needed. For a woman in her mid thirties it was a major step down in her profession, but no one was hiring at her level and she needed the money.

She was surprise to see a woman perhaps her own age answer the door with a diapered clad baby boy on her hip.

Thinking she got the wrong house she stumbled over her greeting then asked a question.

“Hi, I’m Karyn and I was looking for the place with the lab assistant job opening? ” Karyn asked not so sure of herself as she was five minutes ago.

“Yes, yes. Doctor Mela is looking to hire more help. ” The woman answered in her thick Russian accent, but understandable.

The woman step back and let Karyn inside the house and she was motioned to sit on the sofa while the woman and her baby sat on an easy chair.

“My name is Natalie Balalock. I’m house keeper and nanny. Doctor Mela left this paper for you to fill in the answers. ” Natalie said her words halting and she handed a piece of printed paper over to Karyn.

Karyn took the paper and saw it had printed questions on it mixed in with complex math problems.

“A test, I will be happy to fill it out right here. ” Karyn said and she proceeded to fill out the paper using a pen from her own pocket.

A few minutes later she finished it and Natalie held the paper out if to let the baby on her lap read it as well.

No sooner than that strange thought entered her head the baby spoke to her. His words were high pitch and there was a slight lisp. He paused from word to word and made sure each word sounded right

“I am Doctor Frank Mela. It’s nice to meet you. ” The baby said in greeting and Karyn thought she had gone mad for a minute.

“Are you a ventriloquist?” Karyn asked the woman and looked for a speaker or wires in case this was a prank instead.

“I assure you that I’m Doctor Mela. I don’t mind telling you that I had been working on a way to halt the aging process. Part of my research involves reversing aging process and I had a little accident with the drug dosage needed to reach my goal. ” The baby spoke again and Karyn knew this wasn’t an act or a prank now.

‘Midget or little person trying to con me? ’ Karyn thought then dismissed that idea at once. Karyn remembered one little baby girl in her medical studies who didn’t grow, but she had a long list medical problems and this baby boy before looked healthy.

“Why don’t you mind telling me all this? We barely meet and I could go the media with this story. ” Karyn asked curious on way this regressed Doctor would reveal his work to her so soon.

“Be my guest. When the reporters come they will find a nanny with a fussy baby in her arms. I don’t mind acting like a baby since my accident. ” Doctor Mela said breaking up the bigger words so he could be understood.

“Then I will get labeled as a crazy person and I’m sure there is a nice padded room for me somewhere. ” Karyn said with a joking smile. It was clear she wasn’t going to tell a soul since no one would believe her. If this was a prank somehow done she wanted it to be over.

“Exactly. I’m too small now to complete my work at the pace I desire and Natalie is a good woman, but she is no medical expert in my field of study. ” Doctor Mela explained and looked up at the woman with a smile.

Karyn sensed they had developed a bond of some sort.

“And you need someone who is just as smart as you and still adult size to help you. I can keep a secret Doctor Mela and I assume I passed your final tests to see if I ran away screaming. If you don’t mind me asking how long have you been a baby? ” Karyn asked and imagined how many others would be lab assistants ran away if they had gotten past that written test. Now Karyn believe him without any doubt.

“It has been months now and I haven’t aged a day since. Natalie was present when I changed and thankfully she stayed quiet until I learned how to talk again. ” Doctor Mela said and Karyn saw there was a trust between them at the very least.

“Pronunciation must have been quite difficult for you, but I can understand you just fine. ” Karyn answered back now getting interested.

“You have no idea. I’m less than two years old now, but more than a one year old as far as I can tell. You may call me Frank if you like. Shall I show my lab? ” Doctor Mela offered and motioned for Natalie to carry him down stairs to the basement.

Karyn felt like she was in a strange dream as she followed Natalie down the steps.

The basement was a large open space with tables all around the walls packed with equipment and cages full of white rats.

A center table held various chemistry sets with little flames going here and there.

“Impressive. ” Karyn said and went over to a blackboard filled with chemical formulas and math equations.

Studying it closely she saw she had a lot to learn before becoming familiar with his work. From what little she saw so far he had made some major breakthroughs already.

A sound caught her attention and she turned around to see Natalie undoing the diaper tabs on Frank’s diaper.

“Nat, we have a guest. ” Frank pleaded before she could remove the diaper from around his waist.

“I can step out of the room. ” Karyn said and noticed a baby changing station in a corner by the door for the first time.

“He baby size. Just a little wet. ” Natalie said amused by her embarrassment and held up two fingers with a very small space apart from her index finger to her thumb.

“I apologize. ” Frank said a moment later as Natalie undid the other tab and his diaper was taken away to be put in a white trash can.

“It is okay, Frank. I babysat before I went into medical research. ” Karyn letting her eyes go over his naked baby body with a professional glance.

Pale pink skin with a chubby belly and just as Natalie said he was baby size in the penis department. He looked like any baby boy his age and only his sharp focused eyes gave away any hint he was still had his adult mind.

“Natalie was a nanny for years before she change careers to be a housekeeper. She has always insisted on changing my diapers right away and breast feeding. ” Frank explained as Natalie came back with a clean diaper and fixed it around his waist.

The act looked so common place Natalie didn’t seem to notice she was upsetting Doctor Mela a little.

Karyn could put herself in his shoes at that moment. Having her diaper change in front of a stranger would have embarrassed her to no end and being treated like an infant to boot.

“He just cranky and needs nap. You stay for dinner?” Natalie asked and after seeing a nod from Frank. Karyn said yes to the invitation.

As Natalie walked up the steps Karyn couldn’t help but notice the woman was undoing the buttons on her blouse. It was clear she was planning on breast feeding Frank before his nap.

Karyn waited in the living room and thought about all she heard and all she had seen in just the last half hour.

It all seemed crazy, but she had spoken with the regressed doctor and from what she saw in the basement his discoveries were amazing so far.

Natalie returned and went straight for the kitchen. As Karyn channel surfed Natalie prepared a meal for two.

Dinner was quiet and brief moments of light conversation nearly every five minutes. Natalie judging the way she looked at the baby monitor was keeping an eye on her boss. A simple black and white screen showed a baby asleep in a crib somewhere toward the back of the house.

Judging from what Karyn saw it was the master bedroom since a large bed could be seen in the picture if only at one corner of the monitor.

After Karyn cleaned her plate she excused herself to leave the house.

“You will come back at lunch time. I feed you before you go to work. ” Natalie said as Karyn was leaving and she nodded to show she understood.

The next day Karyn arrived and as promised there was a nice little lunch waiting for her at the kitchen table.

Frank was seated in a high chair and did a fair job of feeding himself with a spoon shaped like an airplane.

Natalie ate her food in silence and from time to time she paused to wipe Frank’s mouth free of food he accidently spilled onto his chin or bare chest.

Sometimes he used his fingers to pick up food that fell onto his tray and shoved it into his mouth. Natalie waited until he was done before she would cleaned his hands off.

A sippy cup with a nearly spill proof lid was in easy reach when he got thirsty.

‘To think, he said he doesn’t age now. Just the very idea of being stuck as a baby for years, decades, or even centuries sends shivers up my spine. ’ Karyn thought and did her best not to picture herself wearing diapers and having to depend on someone else to care for her.

“Shall we start?” Frank asked his tone excited and piping higher than his normal babyish tone.

As before Natalie carried the doctor down the steps and Karyn followed.

The first day of real work was getting to know her way around his lab and answering any questions she had.

“Brilliant work. ” Karyn said going over his notes and Frank gave her a cute baby smile while Natalie stood behind him just in case he started to fall off the table he was standing on.

Next lesson was over the machines he used and where his current progress was on finding a way past the anti-aging part of his youth drug. Now he didn’t age like a normal person getting back to adulthood was going to be tricky.

“Same time, tomorrow. ” Frank said and appeared to be getting sleepy now. It was close to dinner time and he seemed to need naps every few hours.

Karyn returned the next day and for a whole month she spent a lot of her time studying and catching up on every Doctor Mela had done so far.

Then one day Natalie told Karyn she was to look after the Doctor.

“My day off. You care for the doctor. ” Natalie said just as she came into the house on an open invitation to come and go as she pleased.

Karyn realized right away it would be up to her to change his diaper and make sure he went down for this afternoon nap.

Frank wasn’t forthcoming when his diaper needed changing. Natalie had spent months around him and knew when he needed to be cleaned up by his body movements.

For Karyn she only noticed when his diaper sagged a little.

“Come here. ” Karyn said gently and checked his diaper. Frank looked away as she checked it and sure enough he was soaking wet.

With a calm professional manner she changed his diaper and pretended not to notice how embarrassed he was in having his diaper changed by someone whom was basically under his employment.

He lay naked on the changing table his head turned sideways so he could pretend that he wasn’t at her mercy as she wiped him clean then she powdered him with baby powder to prevent any rashes from starting.

She finished quickly by diapering him then set him down on his own two feet once more. Finally she cleaned her hands with instant sanitizer.

The rest of day went by fairly quickly and Karyn put the doctor down for his evening nap.

“Karyn, I’m not sleepy. ” Doctor Mela protested and gave a big yawn as Karyn set him inside the crib.

“Well, I will check back in ten minutes if you are still up, we will keep on working. ” Karyn said if coming to an agreement. Even if he still had his brilliant adult mind he was still trapped inside the body of a baby. That little body needed rest at the moment even if his adult mind didn’t think he did.

When Karyn looked in on him again he was fast asleep with his thumb in his mouth. For a second Karyn forgot about the man and saw the baby he appeared to be.

“So cute. ” Karyn whispered to herself then left the nursery to make dinner.

Karyn went ahead and set out what solid foods Doctor Mela could still eat while she prepared a meal of her own. Of course she had baby bottles and a sippy cup full of juice ready as well.

Making sure he ate healthy was an important step in his care so he didn’t get obese. The cells in body copied themselves so perfectly he wouldn’t appear to age at least for a few centuries if his research was right from what Karyn had read from his notes, but his little body did burn up energy which needed to be replaced.

Since starvation, a fatal accident or major trauma to his body could kill him he wasn’t exactly immortal either.

Karyn’s cell phone rang and she answered to hear Natalie’s voice on the other end.

Natalie asked a few questions and right away it was clear she was checking up on seeing how well Karyn was caring for Frank. Natalie’s pet name was usually Frankie or my little man.

“Do you give him his bath yet? Sometimes I take him in the shower with me or we sit in tub together. You can give him bath in the kitchen sink if you are shy. ” Natalie asked and explained how she gave him a good washing up.

Karyn was glad Natalie couldn’t see her for the blush that came over her face.

“Natalie, you can’t be serious. ” Karyn said and pictured herself giving Frank his bath.

“You do. I will be there later on tonight. ” Natalie said then made her goodbye and connection went silent.

Karyn debated the matter within herself and finally came up with a solution that put her mind to rest.

“Just think of him as a person with special needs. ” Karyn said out loud to herself and she started to eat her dinner.

Karyn was halfway through her dinner when she noticed movement on the baby monitor’s screen. Doctor Mela was up from his nap and still rubbing his eyes.

Karyn arrived in the master bedroom and picked him up out of his crib. After a quick check he was still clean so Karyn took him into the kitchen so he could eat.

“Natalie won’t be home till late. I got a call from her on my cell. She left it up to me to give you your bath. I would like it if you don’t talk until I have you dressed again. I think we both can agree the quicker I get this done the happier we both will be. ” Karyn said as Doctor Mela started in on his own dinner.

Sensing it would be best for the both of them he nodded in agreement.

Karyn waited until his plate was clean and drank all he could from his sippy cup before she removed him from his high chair.

She worked quickly to strip him and started a bath with a lot bubbles so he could have some privacy when he sat in the sink.

Karyn had to stop herself from talking baby talk to him while she worked nearly forgetting he was really just an adult stuck inside a nearly helpless body.

When he was dried and clad in a new diaper he finally spoke.

“Lab.” Doctor Mela said and Karyn nodded then carried him down the steps so they could go on with their work.

Karyn made the first breakthrough with one of her ideas.

“Doctor Mela, I think I figured it out. ” Karyn said and showed her own written notes to him showing him how to make a new batch of the drug with better results.

“Do it. ” Doctor Mela answered standing on the counter while he looked over her notepad.

It took only minutes to make a new batch of the youth drug and Karyn carefully handled it then fed it to one of the white rats.

A few minutes later a much younger rat was in the cage.

“Interesting, judging from my math and the effect on this rat anyone who takes the second batch would end up as a child. Not much better than being a baby, but it is progress at the very least. ” Karyn said her tone hopeful.

“You did well. ” Doctor Mela commented then compared her notes to his own seeing the difference.

Figuring out what went wrong the first time was only half the solution to the problem. The tricky part was getting around Doctor Mela’s anti-aging part of his drug to restore him to adulthood.

Natalie came back late that night to find Doctor Mela asleep in a playpen carried into the basement by Karyn.

Natalie could see Karyn was busy with something very important so she decided not to bother the woman at her work.

Doctor Mela was deep in dreamland while he sucked on his thumb in total bliss.

Frank awoke to Karyn’s triumph cheer to see her holding one of the rats in her hands. Confused he looked at the rat then to her trying to figure out what the fuss was all about.

“Doctor, I did it. I based my antidote off of your work and after a full night’s work we have the means to restore you back to adulthood once more. Look here, at this rat. Just a few hours ago he was an infant rat I made with your first batch of the drug. Now thanks to our joint effort he is back to mature status once more. ” Karyn said happily then put the rat back into his cage.

“How many batches you make and antidote?” Doctor Mela asked rubbing the sleep from his eyes.

“You were right about the dosage of one of the chemicals in your drug. We have three vials left over. The fist one here is your mixture. That one would make any adult of any age into an infant like yourself. The last two are mine and this one here you know already will turn someone into a child while this last one will make someone twenty-five. I only made that last one to figure out the counter serum. ” Karyn said proud she was able to come through for the Doctor after all.

“Drink. ” Doctor Mela said excitedly and bounced a little in his playpen. He was reaching out for the antidote or counter serum he knew Karyn must have had in front of her.

“It will take longer to age so maybe by dinner time you will be twenty five again and stay that way for a long to come. ” Karyn said and helped him drink down the contents of her counter serum.

“Yuck. ” Doctor Mela said after he bravely drunk down the counter serum.

“We work on the taste later. At the moment lets us see if Natalie is awake so I can get some sleep now. I crash in the guest bedroom. ” Karyn said holding back a huge yawn as she picked up Doctor Mela from his playpen.

Natalie was awake and preparing breakfast.

Karyn explained to Natalie that the doctor might be adult by dinner time then excused herself for some rest.

Karyn felt like her head barely touched the pillow when moaning woke her up. Concerned she got up from the guest bed and followed the source of the noise.

From the clock on the wall she had been asleep half the day now.

“Doctor Mela!” Karyn called seeing the door to the master bedroom closed. She knocked on the door to let him know she was just in front of the door.

Karyn thought she heard two people in a quick low conversation then a minute later the door opened.

Standing there was a young Natalie with a bathrobe wrapped around her body. Karyn quickly realized she must have taken the third vial to make herself 25 years old again.

She was beautiful and still a big girl, but in that sexy nanny way. Behind her sitting on the bed was a boy around eleven or thirteen years old from his looks. He looked slightly embarrassed and it was clear he was naked under the cover he was using to guard his modesty.

A second later Karyn recognized the face of the boy. The eyes gave him away and how often had she seen his nearly naked body usually clad in only a diaper.

“Oh, I’m so sorry. Doctor, I didn’t realize. ” Karyn said excusing herself from their company and doing her best not to blush.

Karyn waited in the kitchen drinking a cup of strong tea.

A few minutes later Natalie appeared still dressed in the bathroom and started in on making lunch.

Karyn watched her go through her normal routine of pulling her hair back into a pony tail then washing her hands before she would handle the food.

Dress in a shirt far too large for his skinny frame and wearing swimming trunks that hung past his knees Doctor Mela came into the room to sit at the table with Karyn.

“Good to know my antidote works. ” Karyn said with some pride in her voice.

“Yes. ” Doctor Mela said looking just a bit embarrassed still. From his wet hair Karyn guessed he took a shower before coming out.

“So, you and Natalie. ” Karyn teased and looked back just in time to see Natalie with a grin on her face.

“Well, we made an agreement a long time ago for taking care of me that I would make her young again. It wasn’t until recently that I realized I loved her. Of course while I was trapped in my infant body she couldn’t be anything more than a loving mother to me. ” Doctor Mela said as she explained the new relationship.

“I miss having a baby around. ” Natalie said in a sad tone.

“You know Karyn we still have that one vial. ” Doctor Mela said and Karyn took a second to guess his meaning.

“Hmm. Could be interesting to be a baby, but I rather not right now, maybe later on down the road. ” Karyn said and thought about it.

At the moment she trusted Doctor Mela and Natalie, but they had just discovered the means of controlling the aging process. A nasty what if idea popped into her head.

‘They could keep me as a baby and what could I do about it. ’ Karyn thought and suppressed a shiver.

“She is shy. ” Natalie said coming to Karyn’s defense.

“I guess it would be a bit embarrassing. ” Doctor Mela replied back and as Karyn looked at him she could swear he looked just a little bit older now.

“Looks like someone will be old enough to drive pretty soon. ” Karyn commented looking the doctor.

“He is handsome. ” Natalie said and Frank blushed a little at all the attention he was getting.

“So what is it like being older again?” Karyn asked in a curious tone.

Natalie was setting plates with food in front of them as she took her usually seat.

“You’re a lot shorter now and everything doesn’t appear so huge anymore. ” Frank answered then started in on his food.

“How about we go out tonight and celebrate our success?” Karyn asked thinking it would be fun.

“Sounds good. ” Frank answered back then went on say how they keep on working in ways to improve the drug.

Karyn found it strange now to work with a teenage boy who got just a little bit older each time she looked up at him.

While they worked they got into a long discussion on the best ways their drug could be used in the public sector.

Karyn thought he would publish his work and accept the profits from seeling his drug then prizes for his brilliant work. Instead Doctor Mela wanted to keep his discovers a secret then went on to explain why.

Karyn listened and agreed if he were to publish his discovery only benefit the rich and powerful.

Instead he suggested they carefully choose those to give the drug to and start a secret group to help all of humankind.

The worked and talk so long Natalie came down to remind them they had planned to go out together.

Karyn saw that Doctor Mela now appeared to be 25 years old with a shirt a bit tight on his body, but looking good.

“You know I think I will make another vial for myself like the one Natalie took. I feel so old just looking at you two. ” Karyn said seeing the young couple looked so youthful.

Shortly after they left for the most expensive restaurant in town. None of them noticed the car just down the street with its female driver waiting for them to leave.
