Chapter Four

“Let it go! Let it go! Can’t hold it back anymore!”

Viola smiles as Sophie skips ahead of her, the excitable eight year old happily singing the songs from Frozen. The girl had been enchanted by the movie, Sophie joining the ranks of countless other children obsessed with the film and its bright cast of characters. Not to mention the catchy songs. “Nanny, can we meet Anna and Elsa!? Pretty please? I wanna tell them how amazing they are!”

“Maybe tomorrow, sweetie. They used to be at Epcot I hear, but now they’ve moved to the Magic Kingdom. Although I hear they have a very long wait!”

“I’ll wait!” Sophie says, the cute little brunette nodding several times as their little group approaches the entrance of Epcot.

“Even if it means waiting several hours? Many, many little girls just like you all want to meet them, you know. And if you wait in line, it means you might not be able to see everyone on your list!”

Sophie frowns, the girl having a hard time remembering what makes this list so special. Will her mommy and daddy give her a reward if she manages to complete it? And is it worth not getting to see the sister princesses that she’s grown to love overnight?

Bernie, meanwhile, walks behind the two, the boy also having a hard time getting the songs and visuals from Frozen out of his head. While he didn’t enjoy it as much as his twin, he still found it to be a very good movie, even if he doesn’t want to admit that to his nanny.

“Did you like the movie too, Bernie?”

“I guess so.” Bernie says, even if it’s hard for him to resist smiling as he thinks about the film. He really liked Olaf in particular, the funny snowman always making him laugh with his funny antics and silly voice.

“Excellent. Well, here we are: Epcot! Lots and lots of things to do here today, children! We can cross quite a few characters off your lists if we try.” Viola smiles as she looks upon the large white sphere that the park is known for. Sophie and Bernie also gaze upon the outside of Spaceship Earth, but as they do the memories start to come back to them. Memories that they’ve been here before, that they shouldn’t be so young.

The two trade a quick glance, each recognizing that the other is now back to their normal self. Or at the very least, as normal as they can be after all that has happened. Bernie gulps, realizing that his sister is once again wearing a shirt containing several of the princesses. And it’s pink: a dumb, girly pink that Bernie doesn’t want to look at for long.

Sophie motions for Bernie to avoid looking at his own shirt, Winnie the Pooh, Tigger and Piglet front and center on it.

“Now children, what should we do first? The World Showcase won’t be open for a little bit, so we’ll have to stick around here for now.” Viola smiles as she checks the map. After all, Bernie had had a little difficulty reading it at the end of the previous day. “What’s a fun ride we can all enjoy together?”

“Let’s go on that one!” Sophie says as she points to the giant “golf ball” as many call it. “S-Spaceship Earth!” The brunette frowns a little, having had a hard time recalling its name. It’s getting difficult to remember a lot about her past, although she constantly reminds herself that she should be older than she is right now.

“Really? I hear that a lot of children are bored by that ride.”

Bernie and Sophie both want to say that they aren’t children, but that might not be the best way to start off the day. Sophie tries to remember back to what Viola said to her the other day at the Animal Kingdom, but aside from Viola’s explanation of the list everything is shrouded from her beneath a gentle pink mist; a mist that she knows she’ll get lost in if she delves too far deep into it.

“But I like that one! We, umm, rode it the last time we were here.” Bernie says, believing it to be true. His recollections of his last visit to Epcot are incredible vague, although the iconic ride certainly sticks out in his mind. Although it is much more the exterior than the ride itself he recalls.

“Alright, if you say so.” Viola shrugs as she leads the two toward the massive structure.

“It’s getting really hard to remember,” Bernie whispers to his twin.

“I know,” Sophie admits. “This ride shouldn’t make us get littler, because there aren’t any characters.”

“But we still need to meet the others on our list so we can get back to normal, right?”

Sophie nods. “How many more do you need?”

“I haven’t met Mickey or Minnie yet. And then all of the Winnie the Pooh characters.” The boy gulps, realizing that due to his old love for those characters, they might affect him the most.

“I still need to meet a bunch too. I know some of them are here, and then tomorrow I can try and get the rest done. We just need to keep ourselves together until then.”

“Is something the matter, children?”

“Nothing!” The twins answer in unison, causing Viola to chuckle.

“Oh, you two are so cute! Twins really are amazing!” She teases, leading the two through the line as they board the ride.

Spaceship Earth has never been the most entertaining to the twins, although as the two look around at all of the animatronics they find themselves at the very least interested in what is going on. The narration speaks about many historical events, but to Sophie’s chagrin, she finds it hard to keep up with it all. Even looking upon some of the scenes depicted around her, she knows she should know more about everything than she currently does.

The end of the ride at least proves entertaining as the twins use their preferences to create their ideal future on the little computer screen in their ride vehicle, the two having to giggle at the silly events that start to play out before them. Even as the ride comes to an end, the two are still smiling as a few memories drift away.

“Looks like you two had a lot more fun than I thought you would!” Something about Viola’s large smile unnerves the two, both Sophie and Bernie realizing that they can’t enjoy themselves too much here, as silly as that seems to them.

“Where next?” Bernie asks, the boy briefly stealing a look down at his Magic Band before returning his attention to the nanny. He can’t remember why, but he knows something about it is making him feel silly.

“A fine question, Bernie! Well, since Sophie chose here, how about you choose?” She hands the boy her map. “Can you read all of this?”

Bernie frowns, the words too small and too numerous for him to fully grasp at the moment. Yet he remembers one ride from his past: a really fast and fun one. And it isn’t a rollercoaster either, so he thinks he can handle it.

“Let’s go on Test Track!”

“No!” Sophie immediately shakes her head, much to her brother’s shock. “I don’t want to go on that one! It’s too fast and scary!”

“Sophie, you used to like it a lot! Don’t you remember last time?” Bernie frowns as he looks at his twin. Just like the day before, she doesn’t want to go on one of the fast, fun rides because she’s a silly scared girl. “I wanna do it!”

“No!” Sophie says, louder this time as she grows closer to throwing a tantrum. Her attempts to remember her previous ride on Test Track prove futile, the girl terrified by the very concept of the fast-moving ride. Why can’t her brother like slower, nicer rides?

“You’re acting like a baby, Sophie!” Bernie’s face turns red as he gets upset, the boy finding it much harder to maintain control of his emotions lately. “You’re not supposed to be a baby! We’re supposed to be big kids, remember?”

Sophie quickly steals a look at Viola, worried that what Bernie said might alarm her. Yet the nanny merely frowns as she steps forward.

“Alright, that’s quite enough. Bernie, your sister doesn’t want to go on Test Track, so for now it would be better if we avoided that.”

Bernie scowls, the eight year old quite upset with his twin as he looks away. Sophie wants to apologize, wants to tell her brother that she can’t help herself from being afraid, but before she can Viola pulls her into a nice warm hug.

“It’s okay Sophie. We don’t have to do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable. Now, I think I have a good idea!”

“I really liked that song they were singing! In the big blue world!” Sophie giggles as she sings the song that Nemo and his friends had sung toward the end of The Seas with Nemo & Friends. Viola’s suggestion had been quite a nice one, even though somewhere in the corner of her mind Sophie knew that seeing the colorful characters wasn’t the best idea. At least it had calmed Bernie down, her brother smiling as he nods.

“I hear that they sing even more songs in Finding Nemo: The Musical.”

“Nanny, can we go see that?”

“Well, we had the chance to see it, Sophie. It was at the Animal Kingdom, remember? But the two of you didn’t want to see it.” Sophie frowns, wondering why she had ever denied herself the chance to see such a fun sounding show. She almost wants to tear up and ask Viola if they can go there right now, but thankfully enough of her maturity remains to keep her quiet.

That’s right, it was to avoid herself from getting even younger, she recalls. Looking down at her clothes but making sure to avoid looking at the princesses, she’s relieved to see that she hasn’t shrunk since going on the ride. Still, she knows she has to remain alert.

“Bernie, do you want to go meet Mickey and some of his friends? We can cross them off your list.”

“Okay!” Bernie says, louder than he means as he smiles. Sophie bites down on her lip, realizing that the ride most likely affected him more than it did her. Perhaps it’s just the cartoony nature of the characters: Bernie seems to get a lot younger when the animal ones are involved, while the princesses have the same effect on her, she realizes.

As the group makes their way toward the Epcot Character Spot, Sophie attempts to figure out the best course of action for her to take. Bernie is going to get even younger if he meets with the characters, but unless he manages to meet with everyone on his list he’s doomed. It’s almost as if there’s no way to win, Sophie well aware that it gets harder to remember more about herself with every character she meets. At the end of it, will she remember anything? Even now it’s already so hard-

“Look! It’s Mickey and Minnie!” The silliest of smiles crosses Bernie’s face as he looks at the mouse and his girlfriend, the boy practically bouncing in place as he waits in line with his nanny and twin. “I wanna meet them!”

“Don’t worry, Bernie! We will in just a few moments.” Viola smiles, the woman searching through her tote bag for her camera.

“Bernie, remember. We’re supposed to be older.” Sophie is as quiet as she can be, but it’s apparent her brother hears her.

Yet his reaction isn’t what she expects, the confused look on his face nearly causing her heart to stop.

“It’s our turn now, Bernie! Come on, let’s go meet them! Sophie, you too!” Sophie slowly follows behind Viola, Bernie already rushing ahead as he talks to Mickey and Minnie about how cool they are. There hadn’t been a spark of clarity in his eyes when he had looked at her. Was this it? Did he not remember anything anymore?

Sophie puts on her best fake smile as she gives both Mickey and Minnie a hug, the girl doing her best to feign happiness. But now, after seeing how silly Bernie is acting, after seeing that once again his clothes are too large for him, she’s truly afraid for him.

“Well done Bernie! Now all you need to do is meet with Pooh and his friends and you’ll be all set!” Viola gives the boy a big hug, the seven year old boy giggling happily as he nods. “Then you’ll get your nice reward!”

Sophie wonders if Bernie even remembers what that reward is. Does he even want to be big again, even remember what it was like? Yet something in the back of her mind tells her that the reward is different, something to do with money. But why does she need money? Her mommy and daddy have plenty of that.

Mid-step, the girl freezes up as she recalls a little more. That’s right, it’s her parents’ fault that she and her brother are like this, all because they want to start over with Bernie. And she had just thought of them using the most babyish of names too. A few more details from her conversation with Viola surface, the girl truly thankful that she is able to recall so much. Anything to prevent her from becoming like Bernie.

“Is something wrong, Sophie?” Viola seems to read the worry on the girl’s face as she approaches her, a look of concern on her own pretty face.

“Umm, nanny, c-can we talk about some things?” She asks timidly.

“Of course we can, Sophie!” Viola’s bright smile is almost contagious as Sophie’s lips form a little smile as well. “But first let’s get in line for Duffy!”

“Duffy?” Sophie frowns, a few stray memories coming to her at the mention of the name. It’s that stupid Teddy Bear, popular somewhere else in the world (for the life of her she can’t remember where) that was later brought to Epcot. She knows she isn’t supposed to like him, that he’s just some dumb stuffed animal and not a real Disney character from the movies or shows.

But as she looks upon him at his little meet-and-greet gazebo, she’s not sure why she would dislike him: he’s so cute! She’s tempted to join her brother in line, but thankfully Viola pulls her aside even as she keeps an eye on the brown-haired boy.

“What did you want to talk about, Sophie?”

Sophie frowns, Duffy’s appearance making it harder for her to concentrate. Still, she remembers enough. “Y-You said you were going to help us, going to stop us from getting littler.”

“I’m glad you still remember, Sophie. I was worried that you wouldn’t be able to after all you’ve gone through.” Viola says in a whisper, the woman looking rather paranoid as she gazes over her shoulders. “We can’t speak for long. Your parents have ears and eyes everywhere.”

“Is Bernie going to be okay? I-I don’t think he remembers.” Sophie says, the girl casting a worried glance over at her twin as Duffy embraces the happy little boy.

“Maybe he doesn’t right now, but you’re here to help him, right Sophie? I’m sure you can make him remember; you’ve always been the smarter one I hear. Which means I’m sure you’ll be able to keep all of your big girl thoughts together no matter what!”

Sophie isn’t sure she likes the term “big girl thoughts,” but she nods anyway.

“Sophie, how old do you remember being?”

The question causes the eight year old to gasp, Sophie knowing that try as she might, she can’t remember. She bites down on her lip, worried about what her nanny might say if she says the wrong thing. So she thinks about a big number, one that’s bigger than her. “Umm, I’m supposed to be twelve, right?”

Something about that doesn’t sound quite right to her, but as Viola gives her a big smile and embraces her, she knows she guessed correctly. “What a good girl, Sophie! That’s right, you’re supposed to be twelve! Almost a teenager!”

Sophie is proud of herself as she smiles. She’s so smart, able to guess how old she should be even though it’s so hard to remember.

Bernie smiles as he returns over to the two, the boy seeming a little younger as he smiles. “It seems you had a lot of fun with Duffy, huh Bernie?”

“Uh huh! Nanny, I want a Duffy bear! One of the other kids had one!” Bernie says with a smile that Viola is all too happy to return.

“Of course, Bernie! Although we spent all of the money you two had for yesterday at the Disney Store, you still have some for today! Come along!” Sophie gasps as she realizes she’d forgotten all about having money to spend each day. How much else has she forgotten about?

She does her best to remember as Viola helps Bernie shop for a Duffy and a few costumes for the bear, although she doesn’t have much success. Everything is too blurred, and trying to concentrate only makes her head hurt.

“Okay Sophie, I think we’re ready to move along! Our first stop in the World Showcase is Mexico!”

“That was a fun ride, wasn’t it Bernie?” Viola smiles as she walks with Bernie, the seven year old smiling as he remembers the fun water ride starring Donald Duck and two other colorful characters that he doesn’t remember much about. “Sophie, did you have fun?”

“Uh huh.” The girl says, perhaps a bit too quickly. In truth, she had closed her eyes for most of the ride, not wanting to fall under the spell of the characters. Sure, the music and singing had probably gotten to her a little, but so long as she remembers about how she was supposed to be she’ll be fine.

Still, she isn’t happy that she can’t remember where the characters who accompanied Donald throughout the ride are from. She knows she should know the answer, but it just won’t come to her.

“Good! Now let’s head over to Norway! I have quite a surprise planned for you, Sophie.”

Sophie isn’t sure she likes the sound of that, although at the moment all she can do is nod as she and her brother step outside of the Mexico Pavilion and back into the sun.

Bernie smiles, the boy still hugging his Duffy as he looks around. “This place is so big and cool!” Sophie says nothing, even though she too has noticed how large and awe-inspiring Epcot seems to be. She knows she’s been here in the past, knows she shouldn’t be so impressed, but it’s hard to stop herself from gaping at her surroundings.

“Indeed it is! And there’s still a lot more of it to see!” Viola leads the two along, the two crossing over into the Norway Pavilion as she smiles. “Look over there, Sophie! That’s where we’re having lunch.”

As Sophie looks upon the large banquet hall, she wonders if Viola is really trying to help her after all. She’s been here in the past, back when she was in her princess phase when she really had been so little: The Akershus Royal Banquet Hall.

“Come on now, I’ve already made a reservation for us!” Viola seems to have everything planned out perfectly, Sophie realizes, even as she steps closer and closer to the entrance. She should run, escape the spell that the princesses will place upon her before it is too late. She doesn’t want to get younger, doesn’t want to forget more and more about who she is.

But then she sees Aurora through the doorway, smiling as she stands by another family. With that, all thoughts of fleeing leave the girl as a smile finally reaches her lips.

It’s like a dream come true as she sits with her brother and nanny, Sophie watching as Snow White walks over to another set of siblings and starts to talk with them. Cinderella dances with a girl even younger than Sophie while Ariel runs a fork through her hair just like she did in her movie. They’re as amazing as she always thought they’d be, and she can’t wait to meet them all!

She had already gotten to talk with Princess Aurora at the front of the restaurant, the girl having to be ushered along by some kind cast members to ensure that others got their chance to speak with her. And while she was a bit upset that she couldn’t talk with the pretty blonde at length, she was still delighted to have gotten a hug and picture with the Sleeping Beauty herself.

“I don’t like this place. Princesses are dumb.” Bernie says to his nanny, Sophie fortunately absorbed so much in the atmosphere that she doesn’t hear her brother’s blasphemous remarks. The boy frowns as he picks away at his lunch, Duffy now sitting in his lap.

“Now now Bernie, let your sister have her fun!” Viola smiles as Snow White approaches Sophie, much to the little girl’s delight. She gives her a big hug before she starts to talk with the princess about the seven dwarves. Snow White doesn’t seem to realize that Sophie is getting a little younger as they talk, or if she does she doesn’t seem to pay it any mind.

“And then Happy is always happy! I really like him!” Sophie giggles, a tinge of baby fat on her cheeks as she smiles.

“Is that so! Then it seems like you must be a very happy person too, Sophie!” Snow White smiles at the girl before giving her another hug, the woman leaving the table only to be replaced by another princess.

“Hi Cinderella!” Sophie wears the brightest of smiles on her face as she gives the blonde princess a big hug.

“And who might you be, little one! Gosh, is that me on your shirt? I’m so honored!” Sophie giggles as she nods rapidly, Bernie frowning as he continues to pick away at his food. If they are going to dine with characters, they should do so with cooler ones, he thinks to himself. Like Mickey or Pooh. Especially Pooh.

Unlike her twin, Sophie is having a blast as each one of the princesses present comes over to talk with her for a little. She’s a little upset that Belle is nowhere to be seen, but Cinderella, Ariel, Aurora and Snow White are more than enough to make her day. She feels so happy now, fairy dust coating her mind in warm feelings of delight. She doesn’t even realize that her shirt has gotten bigger on her as she continues to interact with the lovely princesses.

“Nanny, do you think we can see Belle? Ariel told me that she meets in the France area!” Sophie is oblivious to how young she sounds as she walks out of the restaurant about an hour later, her tummy now full of delicious food.

“Of course we can, Sophie. But first we need to visit the other countries! After all, you do need to meet Mulan too!”

“Oh, I love Mulan! She’s so brave and pretty!” Sophie can’t help herself as she gushes about the dark-haired princess, Viola wearing the brightest of smiles on her face as she leads the two children into the Chinese-themed area.

“At least she fought. Better than the other princesses.” Bernie’s comment only upsets Sophie, but the girl doesn’t let it show. After all, her silly brother just doesn’t get how amazing all of the princesses are.

It’s not long until she’s in line for the dress-wearing woman, Viola standing with Bernie as she watches Sophie practically jump in place she’s so excited. “Are you sure you don’t want to meet with her, Bernie?”

“Nope.” Bernie says, the boy frowning as he hugs Duffy to his chest.

“My, you certainly love your Duffy! Almost as much as Pooh?” Just the mention of Bernie’s favorite character brings a smile to the boy’s face as he nods excitedly.

“But Pooh is the best!”

“You certainly seem adamant about that!” Bernie frowns, one of the words Viola said a bit too hard for him to understand. “Don’t worry, I’m sure we’ll be seeing him soon enough! You do need to meet him for your list after all!”

Bernie doesn’t know how to feel as he hears this: part of him knows that seeing Pooh might be bad for him, but a much bigger part wonders why would that ever be the case? He loves Pooh, just the thought of the funny yellow bear causing him to giggle happily.

“Still, I wonder why Mulan is considered a princess. I’ve seen that movie and I know she isn’t one. The man she falls in love with isn’t even a prince! Well, who knows: Sophie seems to enjoy her just as much as the others!” Viola can only smile as she studies Sophie’s face, the six year old having the biggest of smiles on her face as she speaks with the Chinese woman.

“Oh nanny, she was so nice and we talked about all sorts of stuff!” Sophie is a giggling, giddy mess as she returns, the girl tugging at her shorts as she tries to keep them from falling. Her shirt now looks more like a dress on her, Sophie flashing a gap-toothed smile as she giggles.

“I’m so glad, Sophie! But my, look at the two of you! Your clothes seem far too big! Come now, let’s get you both changed!”

“Nanny, it’s Belle! I-I want to go meet her!” Sophie is oblivious to how childish she sounds, the hints of a little lisp in her voice as she looks over at the beautiful brunette wearing her blue and white dress. Sure, it isn’t the extravagant yellow one she wore during the dance scene in the movie, but Sophie can still only admire how beautiful she looks.

Bernie now wears a red shirt with Pooh on it, while Sophie has changed into a Mulan-inspired dress at Viola’s suggestion, a pair of chopsticks holding her long brown locks back in a cute bun. And Viola wears the brightest of smiles on her face as she nods at Sophie. “Go right ahead, Sophie! Bernie and I will stay here, right Bernie? I bet you aren’t very interested in meeting girls!”

“I wanna meet Pooh!” Bernie looks almost ready to throw a tantrum at this point, their group having made the long walk all the way over to the French Pavilion from China. Along the way they had stopped to try some different snacks and purchase a number of items, both Bernie and Sophie learning the hard way that there were many types of food they didn’t want near their mouths.

“Don’t worry Bernie, he’s next on the list! We’ll be in the UK soon enough. I do have to wonder what Disney believes my homeland to be like. I can’t wait to tell all my friends in Parkdale! I’m sure Gerty will have a good laugh about it.”

Bernie isn’t really sure what his nanny is talking about, so he simply nods and watches as his twin gives Belle a big hug.

“You’ve always been my favorite princess.” With a cute little blush on her slightly freckled face, Sophie whispers these words to Belle.

“I’m so touched. Thank you very much, Sophie!” Belle hugs Sophie even closer, the compassionate princess making Sophie feel truly special in that moment.

“O-Of course I love all the other princesses too! But I love you the most, because you’re really smart and beautiful and sweet!” She stops herself there as she receives another hug, Sophie’s mind thoroughly coated with pink fairy dust that makes her feel so very giddy and delighted. Even as she returns to her nanny’s side, she has the biggest of smiles on her face.

“Did you have fun, Sophie? Did you tell Belle how much you like her?”

“I did! I did, nanny!” Sophie smiles, even as she can tell Bernie is upset. “Don’t worry Bernie, we can go meet Pooh now. I like him too!”

The mention of his favorite character returns a large smile to Bernie’s face, Viola nodding as she leads them along through the pavilion.

It’s not long until they enter the neighboring UK pavilion, Sophie looking around with wide, interested eyes at the place. “Nanny, is your home like this?”

Viola stifles a chuckle. “Just a little bit. Oh look over there, Sophie! It’s Alice!”

“Alice!” Sophie cries out, the girl looking upon the other Disney heroine known for her white and blue dress. “Can I meet her nanny? Can I?”

“No! We need to meets Pooh!” Bernie doesn’t even notice some of his incorrect wording as he pouts, face turning red as he prepares to throw another small tantrum.

“Now Bernie-”

“No! Sophie said we could see her next!” Bernie refuses to back down, the boy stomping one of his little feet as he shakes his head. “I wanna meet Pooh!”

“Sophie, do you think Alice can wait a little? I’m sure she’ll still be out here when we’re done.”

Sophie casts a concerned look over at the pretty blonde girl, before she turns back to face her nanny and nods. “O-Okay. Bernie hasn’t got to meet many of his favorite characters today.” Sophie says as she follows her brother and Viola into the back of one of the stores.

“There he is, Bernie! It’s Pooh! And Tigger is there too!” Bernie giggles in delight as Viola points out two of his favorites to him, warm blankets of comfort veiling his mind in happy thoughts as more and more memories of his life leak out of his silly little head. Sophie seems just as excited as her brother to meet the two, a large smile on her own face as she starts to sing Pooh’s theme song to herself.

Bernie bursts into the happiest of laughs once he reaches the front of the line, the boy dashing over to Pooh as he hugs him. The bear happily returns the hug, Tigger looking on with a smile before he turns to give Sophie a nice warm embrace.

“Pooh, you’re ‘da best!” Bernie manages, the boy rewarded with a gentle rub on the back from the bear.

“Okay everyone, picture time! Say honey!” Viola says as she snaps a shot. “Perfect.” The nanny puts her camera away as she watches the adorable scene unfold before her, Viola truly touched by how happy the twins are enjoying the bear and tiger.

“See Sophie, I told you we’d have time to see Alice!” The little brunette can only smile and nod as she walks over to her brother and nanny, Bernie not seeming to mind waiting around anymore. He has the biggest smile plastered on his head, the boy seeming quite agreeable now. Sophie is arguably the same way, although as she looks at her brother she can’t help but feel something is wrong with him.

“Well, it’s time to go now! Wait, is that…oh my, it is.” Viola experiences a little surge of excitement herself as she gazes upon a woman in white meeting with guests. A little red comes to her cheeks as she turns to Bernie and Sophie. “Err, Bernie, Sophie, would you mind if I went over and met with her really quickly!”

“Okay!” Sophie says, smiling as she sees how happy her nanny looks. She and her twin follow Viola over to the dark-haired woman, Mary Poppins smiling as she looks at the little group.

“My, what do we have here?”

“Hello Mary. M-My name is Viola. I’m a nanny, and I just want to say that seeing you on the big screen, y-you really helped inspire me when I was little, helped me realize exactly what I wanted to do with my life: help miserable families become happy ones. I’d like to think that I do just that these days.” Viola almost feels embarrassed as she speaks to the woman merely pretending to be the fictional character, but she can’t help herself. She knows she’s perhaps being too emotional, but she genuinely means it all.

“Judging by how happy these little ones look, I’d say you’re doing a terrific job. Now, wipe those tears away, Viola. Nannies like us aren’t allowed to show weakness.”

“R-Right, sorry.” Viola says, the woman quickly wiping her eyes even as Sophie giggles. The words of her childhood icon truly mean a lot to her, even if she knows it is just an actress before her.

Following a picture with the woman, Viola and the twins begin their trip out of the park, both Bernie and Sophie too tired to complain. Sophie knows she should have more energy, that just the previous night she stayed up later to watch Frozen. But it is becoming a struggle to even keep her eyes open, especially as a cute little yawn leaves her mouth.

“I’m tired.” Bernie complains, the boy’s smile finally wearing off as his drowsiness gets to him.

“We’ll be on the monorail soon enough, children. Don’t worry, if you fall asleep on it I’ll make sure to get you two your room and into your jammies.”

“Okay.” Sophie says, the girl wiping her eyes as she tries to stay awake.

“Although, the two of you haven’t had dinner yet, sillies! So why don’t you take a nice little nap on the monorail while I make some preparations for us!”

As soon as the twins board the vehicle, they happily take their nanny’s advice to heart.

“Wake up little ones! We’re going someplace very special tonight!”

Sophie lets out a cute little yawn as she rubs away at her eyes, Bernie grumbling a little as the little six year old awakens. “Where are we?”

“Why don’t you look and see for yourself?” Both Sophie and Bernie turn to look where Viola is looking, and instantly their faces light up.

“Mickey!”

“That’s right, we’re at Chef Mickey’s for dinner! We’re going to dine with Mickey and all of his friends. Oh, doesn’t that sound delightful!?” Sophie and Bernie can only giggle and nod, Viola leading them both into the interactive restaurant as more and more of their memories slip away, replaced by new, happy memories full of Disney magic.
