Prologue

It all started on that day, for us, anyway. That surprisingly sunny day, not a cloud in the sky if you could believe it, looking back, I don’t. I’ve seen too much to believe anything at face value. But, maybe it did start before that. Maybe, we were born for this terrifying oddessy. Lucy tells me she believes that much, but otherwise, she won’t write about it.

Lucy...She’s just not the same person anymore. I mean, in more ways than one. Neither of us are. Sometimes, I think we deserved this... I don’t know... Curse? Illness? Something bad, that’s for sure. Oh, I meant to say “that’s for damn sure,” I’m getting used to not swearing.

I digress, it all started the day Lucy and I moved to a small town in Connecticut. The house was rumored to be haunted and I jumped at the chance. I am...was, an amateur ghost hunter. All those shows and movies really excited me and I fantasized about the afterlife. Before the stuff that happened, I hadn’t realized how...what’s the right word? Odd? Strange? Magical, even. All true, but not the word I’m looking for... Wonderful? Terrible? Scary? All of them, I suppose.

Darn...Damn, I mean, I got carried away again. Anyway, Lucy and I moved into a haunted house...
