The Rules of the game

Hi my name is John Venny. In most families, parents would hide Easter eggs around either the inside or outside of their homes. These eggs would either be dyed hard boiled eggs, filled with candy and/or money that would be put into plastic eggs. My family however had different kinds of eggs. Sure we did use the same kind of plastic eggs most families would use but what the prize inside is what made our family different from the others. My parents are actually masters of time magic. However they aren’t allowed to use their magic in the mortal world, but they are given permission in use their powers for special times of year, you know for Halloween so their kids or sometimes even themselves could spend the night and go trick or treating, you know any kind of time spells to make the holidays more fun. Now back to our traditional Easter egg hunt. Inside all of the eggs, has a piece of paper. The paper would tell the finder or the egg how many years younger or older they would get and then puff they loose or gain those years, and whoever had become the oldest won and had the option of turning back while the rest would stay that age for another day.

For the last 5 years, it had been mostly been my younger brother Sam, who was 10, who wins since he was the smallest out of me and my other siblings, Jessie (15), James (13), since he was easily able to reach small spaces. I had the worst luck since I was the oldest at age 17. But I only became the youngest after the hunt only once which I had become 3. That was the youngest I had ever gotten. James had once gotten to a point to where he couldn’t continue the hunt which the rules state that occurs when the person is less then 1. Jessie had once gotten enough youth eggs to become only 5. Now when it came to being older. I once was able to become 35, while Jessie 43, and James 50. Now for some reason Sam only became 25 the oldest and 8 the youngest. I seemed like he knew where to look. He never became too old or too young. Last year I even accused of him of cheating but I had no evidence.

So that’s how my family’s annual Age Magic Easter Egg Hunt goes. My family should be starting in a hour or so. Both my parents tell me and my siblings to wait inside while they hide the eggs outside. They never hide the same eggs in the same spot so we don’t look for specific eggs all the time so we wouldn’t have to worry to wear diapers for a day. In the next room all 4 of us could see the baby, young child, teen, and adult supplies for whenever they are needed. The only person in the room who wasn’t nervous was Sam. It was like he already knew where to look. I could easily see that both my brother and sister looked nervous, they both knew they could easily be eating nothing but baby food for 24 hours if the didn’t get lucky, or at least lucky enough to be old enough to eat solids. Me on the other hand, I had gotten so many random ages that weren’t that all bad in the last 5 years.

It was getting close to the starting time, we would be signaled to begin and start the hunt. There was no delays, no waiting, we had to be ready on the signal.

How long do you think it will be till they are ready said Jessie who clearly had sweaty hands

It doesn’t matter, I am going to win again this year and maybe this year Ill be nicer to you said Sam who couldn’t wait to begin.

Look we all know the rules, we will be signaled when we can begin I re mentioned to both my brother and sister.

After another 5 minutes the signal, which was a bright light in the room, alerted us. It was time. All 4 of us, ran out of the house and onto the outside of the house. To begin the Annual Venny Age Magic Easter Egg Hunt.
