15 to 14:

Not so New Problems

So here’s a question for you; you have been turned into a girl through unknown means and also found yourself growing younger at random times, what do you do? If you were me, you would be aimlessly wondering around your two-story mall as you work up the nerve to call your mama and papa and tell them they have now two daughters and one of them is currently getting younger.

I know what you’re thinking, how can I flirt with something who I use to be the same gender as but not muster up the courage to send a simple text to my own parents? Well, truth be told…I’m scared to face them even if it with just words. Okay, I’m terrified to face them…even indirectly. I mean, I’m just starting to feel comfortable in this new body, and I was afraid if I contact my parents that something bad would happen.

Two things kept flashing through my mind if I decided to through with calling mama and papa; they believe me and rush to my side, fussing over me and exposing the secret I had been trying to keep for the last few hours. The second one, the one that fills me with so much fear that I think I was close to losing control over my blunder, was that they weren’t believed me and think I was playing so sort of prank. Or worse, they would think my phone was stolen and someone is playing a cruel trick on them.

Yeah, yeah I know that three things, but I’m nervous so can you really blame a girl?

With a heavy sigh, I lean against a wall and fished my phone out of my bag. I frown as I looked over my no-contact, black android phone. It was really simple, with no decal or anything that made it stand out. I know I just brought this phone a few weeks ago, but not to do anything to personalize it just seem blend.

...Nothing like turning into a little girl to make you look at your life. In fact, as I looked at the family photo I use for my backdrop, its hard believe that short, 19-year-old guy is me. I feel some different, confident, light on my feet, and dare are I say it…beautiful.

But, I’m just avoiding the subject here, and with a light sigh, I opened the contact App and began writing out a text to my mama’s phone number.

“Mama, I know this may be weird, but I have been turned into a girl and I’m also getting younger. If you don’t believe me, I can text you picture,” I took a selfie, paste it to the text, and then spent the next two and half minutes writing out a very detail explanation about one of my most embarrassing secrets, one that was only known to my parents and me, not even my still little sister knows this about me.

The text was soon completed, and all that was left was to send it. My thumb hovered over the digital “send” button, all I needed to do lightly press down and the deed would be done. So why, why was this so hard? I think I stood like that for a near minute before I let out a heavy sigh, saved the text to drafts, and closed down my phone.

“And they say growing up is hard,” I muttered sarcastically, “Try growing down…it can be a nightmare.”

I shoved my hands into my pockets and frown when I felt something off. I looked down at my outfit and noticed several things at once. First, my outfit was baggier then I originally thought, I couldn’t see my ankles anymore, and my pants themselves were barely hanging onto my ever shrinking hips. I think after another regression, maybe two, I would be too small to wear this outfit.

Speaking of my outfit…I looked at my shirt and noticed just how baggy it has become. When that sale lady picked it out, it was form-fitting with holes that formed perfectly around my arms and neck. That wasn’t the case anymore. While it wasn’t anything drastic my shirt was starting slide off my right shoulder. I guess my shoulders just weren’t firm enough to hold the piece of clothing in place.

Then there were my wrists bands and shoes…my shoes felt like they go flying off my feet if I get them a good kick. Then there was my wrist bands, it was a miracle that I still have them as they were hanging off my wrist so badly that it was wonder I hadn’t dropped them when I was aimlessly wondering around. Even my trusty bag was starting to feel a little awkward, like my shoulder was barely holding it in place. I guess I should thank that crazy lady for giving me a bag with an adjustable strap.

It was a real shame to, in the few short hours I have this stuff I had grown to like them a lot. To think that I will have to wait a set period to wear what I now considered my teen outfit felt like a kick in the pants. Oh well, guess its just part of growing down. Ha, funny, when this whole thing started, I was freaked out by this, and now…I’m find myself pretty content with this.

I still wonder why that is?

“Hey you, what do you think you’re doing?” a familiar voice barked commandingly, breaking me out of my thoughts.

I felt a shiver (and not the good kind either) go down my spine as my body stiffens up on me, as I looked to my right. I could feel my stomach drop to the tips of my feet, as I looked at the six’, 1 and half’’ tall form of one Brian Gill! Before I continue I think it’s only fair that I explained the history behind Brian and myself.

See, back when I was Ken Junior in high school, Brian was the bully that terrorized everyone. But unlike your normal bully, one who uses their size to intimidate others, even if he has the mass to do it, Brian uses his intelligences to get others to do what he wants. Yeah, a bully with a brain, go figures, right?

But, in some way that actually makes him a worse bully then most, since he knew how to handle things differently. He actually got a way with a lot, knowing how to skirt around the teachers and knew what to say to keep others quiet. I was one of the few who didn’t back away from him despite the near foot difference, and I think he still has something against me.

“I asked what you were doing near my store?” Brian asked commandingly, once again bringing my focus back to the present.

I frown as I looked to my right, and noticed how close I was to Target’s entrance. I looked back at Brian and noticed that he didn’t have any sort of ID on his tag that would suggest he was the store manager. In fact, I don’t even think he’s an assistant manager, but your standard employee.

“Really,” I asked in a tone that was a strange mix of sarcasm and fake innocence, “I don’t see you name on the store. And I don’t see anything thing on your name tag that said you’re a manager of any kind.”

Brian didn’t like my tone as he leveled a glare in my direction, only to cock an eyebrow as he glare turned more investigative. He began sizing me up like I was some piece of meat, and I didn’t like it one bit.

“Do I know you?” Brian asked suspiciously.

My mind locked up on me at that comment and the only thing I could say was a weak, “What.”

“Your tone is really getting on my nerves,” Brian replied bluntly. “It’s reminds me of someone I don’t like much.”

Oh, you get to be kidding me. Since I found myself turning into a little girl I had encounters with two people I knew on a personal level and they didn’t even come close to recognizing me. But this overgrown man-boy does, all because I used a tone I used on him when we used to go to school together. If that’s not irony in it purest form then I doesn’t know what is.

“I guess it doesn’t matter,” Brian said suddenly, causing me to sigh mentally at my still-kept secret, only to wince mentally when he suddenly looked at me in a condescending way.

“Now listen here, you little brat,” Brian said commandingly. “You better learn fast to show me more respect. It wouldn’t be long before I run this entire mall, and I ban shrimps like you because they didn’t show the proper respect someone like me deserves.”

I cocked an eyebrow at my former bully’s logic. I highly doubt that he could gain control of an entire mall. I nearly chuckled as I remembered that, despite his claims during high school, he wasn’t in control or nearly as smart as he and probably others first thought. Sure, he was able to control others, but that was just a plot created by one of the students; we acted like he was in control, until he was out of earshot, we would then forget about him and just go about our normal business.

It was a shame the other half of his plan didn’t work out so well or we might had gotten Brian expelled from our school.

I was brought out my musings for the third time in the last five minutes by the ever so familiar shiver going down my spine. I felt my body retract into my outfit and let out a small, ‘eek’ as I felt my pants sliding down. I acted quickly and thrust my hands into my pockets, and grab the inside tightly as I bunched up my shoulders, all to keep my dignity in tact. Unfortunately Brian took my posturing the wrong way, and grinned as cross his arms smugly.

“See, now that’s what I’m talking about,” the overgrown bully said proudly. “Continue to show me that respect and your time here can be very easy going.”

I just rolled my eyes as I began to work my belt to try and see if I can get my pants to stay on. From the top of my eyes I can barely make out the smug look on the former bully’s face, and just rolled my eyes as I refocused all my attention on fixing my belt. I swear, Brian may be one of the smartest bullies I have ever known, but he’s still a bully at his core, his pride and inability to read sighs properly are prove of that.

I think I finally got my belt tight enough that my pants wouldn’t fall down, and looked at Brian. The idiot was still there, like he expecting something out of me, but he wasn’t going to get it. I turned to leave, only for a nagging feeling deep within my skull to stop me. Maybe it was whatever was left of Kenneth Turner Junior that was stopping me, but I felt I just couldn’t let thing stand as they are.

And a very nasty thought just popped into my head, to use an old trick I pulled on him a few times before. Let’s just hope his pride and ego keeps him from connecting the dots.

“So you said you will one day rule this entire mall, right?” I asked innocently, to which Brian only nodded. Good, he’s still stops listening when someone praise him, so it was time finish things off. “So, I guess that would be you will be sitting in a throne covered in pink leather with a glass of turnip juice in your hand and two beefy guys in zebra Speedos at your side?”

“You know it!” Brian exclaimed proudly.

I had to bite my tongue slightly to keep my laughter to myself as I began count the seconds in my head. It took a little over a minute and half for him to process everything, as his face went through different expressions as effects of my words began to set in. First, his eye narrowed as he went over my words. Next his eye widens ever so slightly and his mouth opened just a hairline as the meaning of my words took hold. Finally he leveled glare at me as he realized what I could called him.

“Hey…are you calling me trash?” Brian asked angrily.

I giggled openly as I began walking around him. Not only was he slower-Brian normally wouldn’t had taken that long to figure things out-but he was a bit dumber as well. I didn’t call him trash, I call him gay. Oh well, more fuel for me, and I was just getting started.

“How do you plan to rule another mall, let along one this big?” I asked with fake innocence, “You couldn’t even tell when someone calls you gay, and you think you can rule another mall filled with people. As if!”

The look on Brian’s face was to rich; nearly all of his face had gone white say for his cheeks, which had a nice shade of red to them. His mouth also kept opening and closing like his mind was trying to come up with a comeback but whatever he had on his mind died before it reached his lips.

I thought about taking out my phone and snap a picture, but even I wasn’t that cruel. After all a boy-turned-girl need some standards, even if said girl is currently 14.

Still, I couldn’t stop the giggle that escaped me as I began to walk away, feeling very content at the moment. Yup, nothing like putting an overgrown man-child in his place to make an un-growing girl feel little a million bucks.

“Now hold on a minute!” Brian suddenly screamed, lunging forward and grabbing me by the arm as I walked past him. “What make you think that some snot-nosed brat can just walk up to me and tell me off? Don’t you know who I am?”

I looked at Brian while I try to keep my anger in check. I don’t know why but hearing him call me a snot-nosed brat didn’t sit right with me. Yes, I was getting younger, but I don’t think the warrants calling me snot-nose.

I suddenly grinned as another wicked thought popped into my head. Time to see just how far this once smart bully had fallen since the last time I have seen him.

“You know, I think its true what they say,” I said in a sassy tone.

“And what’s that?” Brian asked in an irritated voice, giving the arm he was holding a small squeeze.

I had to fight back the wince as I said, “That girls grow up faster then boys. In fact, in your case, I would say you grew down.”

Brian was so startled that he loosened his grip enough that I could free my arm. I nearly didn’t pull my arm out, as I was just as stun as my former rival. I mean, I just used my own condition as a weapon and use it with a tone that made me sound like a real firecracker.

I wouldn’t deny the fact that I enjoyed putting this over grown man-child in his place.

Oh look said man-child is coming around, better get out of here. All I need to do is pull my arm free…oh look, it already free. I Blink at my free limb, but quickly realized my body must had kept enough of its old muscle memory to pull my arm free when Brian loosened his grip.

Unfortunately, my moment hesitation was all Brian needed to recover and the look on his face wasn’t good. It reminded me of a hungry beast ready to sink its teeth into a wounded animal.

“Do you have any idea what I’m going to do to-?”

“I’ll scream,” I said plainly.

Brian blinked and in a moment that reminded me of the bully I once knew in high-school, he looked around. I also did a quick scan of the area and noticed that a small crowd was starting to form. Even Brian isn’t stupid enough to risk a public scene, and I smiled innocently as walked into Target, partly because the Summer Clearance Sale that was happening that my best bet to find some more fitting clothes, partly because I wanted to rub it in Brian’s face that a 14-year-old ‘snot-nosed brat’ had best him repeatedly.

“Yeah, I’m adding another entry in my diary,” I giggled to myself, but first things first, I needed to find something to wear. My current outfit wouldn’t hold up against regression.

I didn’t make it to the clearance as I spied something that filled with good memories from my first childhood and everything else was instantly forgotten as I walked up the display.
