Chapter 2
Meet Scotty

Chapter Description: Sam and Matt return home. While Sam catches up with her little one, Matt heads off to bed.

Matt hobbled through the front door of the house, Sam a few steps behind him. He just wanted to go upstairs and sleep. It was around 8 at night, and he just wanted the nightmare to be over.

“Hey Scotty!” Sam jubilantly exclaimed as she ran over to greet her other son. Scott was almost 3, freshly out of diapers, though he did have an accident every few days or so, and getting ready to start pre-school in the fall. “Mommy!” Scott squealed back, running out of the nanny’s arms and over to his mom. Patty, the nanny, had been watching him all day. She had been informed of Matt’s condition, and was ready to be around if needed.

“Did you have a good time with Patty, Scott?” Sam condescended to the toddler.

“Yeth, Mommy, I wath extwa good today, and I ate all my veggies!” He proudly declared. Patty interjected, “Scott, that’s not all, tell your mommy what else you did!”

“I made a tower that wath so cool! And I wathed Yo Gabba Gabba, and went to the pawk, and did all thith cool stuff!” He continued.

“Did you have any accidents today, Scotty?” Sam wondered aloud.

“Nope,” Patty reported, “He was dry all day. I’m telling you, he’s getting better at this.”

“Good!” Sam hugged her son. “Keep it up, and you’ll be in big boy pants full time!” She had him in training pants to sleep in or to long outings, but he was in undies at home.

“Yayyyy, big boy pants!” Scott boomed. “Hey, whewe’s big bwotha? I want to show him my towa!” Scott wondered aloud.

“Oh, he went to bed, Scotty, so you have to be quiet, okay? Matt’s not feeling well.” Sam explained to the toddler. She was right, Matt thought to himself, out of sight at the top of the stairs. It’s best he not know yet. He sighed, crawled into bed, and went to sleep
