(...)

“KA-BOOOOM!!” the sound of a mild explosion rocked a small, old fashion boarding house, with a doublewide garage on the right side. Zooming in for a closer look would reveal that smoke was rising from the door, which was being opened from the outside.

Inside of the garage, the place was filled with smoke. As the smoke started to clear, a figure could be seen, crouched on the floor of the building. As more smoke lifted, the figure stood up, revealing that he was shielding someone else.

“Are you okay, Karen?” the first figure in concern as he offered his arm to the second figure.

As the last of the smoked cleared, we finally get a good look at two mysterious figures.

The first figure was a young man, around his late twenties. He’s a skinny person with clean cut black hair and midnight blue eyes. His chin was slightly pushed out and his cheeks bone slightly low. Just avenge looking Joe by all rights. His jeans, shoes and shirt were covered in slot from the explosion.

“I’m okay,” a timid voice replied as the second figure took the first hand.

The second figure was a girl about eight and half year old. Her tan skin complimented her sky blue eye and golden brown hair. Her hair was tied up a small, high ponytail. Her blue over heals and pink tee shirt was covered in slot as well.

The first figure name is Michael Times, a young man who is currently renting a room at his parents’ boarding home until he could find a place of his own. The other figure is Karen Bright. She’s a distant relative of the Times and in their care because she’s an orphan.

“So what kind gadget were you working on this time?” a soft, gentle voice asked.

The pair turned their heads in the direction of the voice to see a woman, around 45, standing over a piece of junk that was once a machine.

The woman was dressed in a simple pair of gray sweatpants and sweatshirt that took eyes away from her pale skin. There were light wrinkles on the rim of her mouth and eyes and her dark hair was just starting to fad to gray.

This woman name is Emily Times, the mother of Michael and guardian of Karen.

“This was suppose to a new kind of Ex-ray machine,” Michael explained as they walked up to Emily. “The idea was to make a machine that was generate a type of ex-rays that wouldn’t be harmful to people when used. I also had modified it so DNA simple can be put into and help resisted the person it’s scanning on an easy basis. I was trying some of my blood, I collected from myself ten year ago, when the power shorted out and the machine exploded.”

Emily let out a tired sigh and said,” I really wish you wouldn’t keep cutting yourself like that. It isn’t healthy.”

“Mom, I haven’t done that in nearly five years,” Michael felt a tug at his pants and looked down at a shy Karen. “Yes, Karen, what’s wrong?”

“I umm, cut my finger on your machine by accident,” Karen replied shyly, showing him her bloody finger. “And I think some of my red stuff got into it. You’re not mad?”

“No, I not mad,” Michael said kindly, then looked at his mom. “You might want to get that taken kind of.”

“Okay, but do you think you can think your father’s lunch to him?” Emily asked kindly, holding out the brown paper bag.

Michael nodded his answer and took the paper from his mother. Emily then took the young girl into the house to treat the wound. The young adult watched as his family entered into the house, with a content smile on his face. He then got his favorite jacket from the other end of the building and slipped it on.

Hmm, that’s odd. My jacket feel loose today, Michael thought curiously. Must be finally stretching out. I mean I had this for ten year.

Without another thought to the matter, he hoped into his 2004 Sliver Taker and took off to his father place of employment.
