NEW material for August 21st is led by an all-new commission called "Bad Family Planning." Also, the first reprint of "Disillusioned" since the server crash, and a brief retrospective on "California Pacific" that I forgot to write.
Chapter Description: A personal introduction for the anthology to come.
I’ve had plenty of exciting and rewarding experiences since I first got online in 1990, but none so cool as the spring and summer I spent writing new material for the ARchive, a favorite website of mine since 1998. For three and a half months in 2007, I had the privilege of sharing some very private images and fantasies with a fantastically colorful community of my own peers: people who clicked, read, understood, and appreciated. Some would say that writing for free, aside from the practice it gives the author, is a largely fruitless venture. But I wasn’t writing for free. My payment came in the forms of positive reviews, endearing private messages, and grateful e-mails-- all of which informed me that I had managed to bring just a little something fresh and special to a fellow community member’s evening. (OK, so I got paid for a few stories, but I managed to drink away my fees pretty quickly.)
Allow me to welcome you to "Loving Care," the collected works of Lola Trechlyn as written from April 11th, 2007 to August 1st, 2007. Ten stories -- seven originals, three commissions -- can be found below, posted in pairs over the course of five days. On the sixth day, a special gift awaits anybody with an affinity for the stories written under the name lolatrec. Each tale has been cleaned up of minor typos and inconsistencies, and each is appended with a brief retrospective by me, little trip.
I say "written under the name lolatrec" because, of course, Lola Trechlyn never existed in her advertised form. She was a phantom, the dark half of a man in his early 20s who wanted little more than to evoke the feminine pathos used to such great effect by Jennifer Lorraine so many years prior. It is my hope that, even with the knowledge that lolatrec’s stories were the product of a male’s typing fingers, readers of these tales appreciate that they came from a very feminine, almost TG (okay, totally TG) side of myself.
Summer came to a close, and Lola’s data flew to the four winds. My hard drive coughed its lungs out of its mouth. I had to cancel my last few commissions and delete my identity from the ARchive to ease the pain of the loss. But, over the course of the next few years, those same 10 stories gradually came back together-- bits of mixed media buried at the bottom of desk drawers, chunks of usable data lingering around the ARchive, friends who were willing to send second- or final-drafts back to me. Through sheer luck, charity, and months of hard work, I am, at last, able to return these stories to you -- in one, centralized location, in chronological order, easily found by accessing my (little trip’s) story page. Think of it as one of those "Namco Museum" things, yeah?
Now, two and a half years later, you all know me as little trip, the man in his mid-20s who’s set out to pay tribute to personal favorite AR author The Tainted Sins, possibly the unchallenged master of transgressive AR fiction. (Wanna talk about a "dark half"? I’m having more fun with this shit than ever before.) As I gain additional confidence, I intend on branching out still more... I’m already interested in exploring angles like comedy and G-rated AR. I’ll just have to take a lot more showers, since all the greatest ideas come out of the shower head. C’mon, everybody knows that.
But, this isn’t about me. Nor is it about me pretending to be a girl and doing his... her... our best at it. Before I send you into the anthology, I would like to specifically cite the following people (and the screen names that represent them) as being exceedingly supportive during my time as lolatrec. If you feel I’ve left you off the list, I extend my sincerest apologies-- I’m working off a very old list from a tattered sheet of notebook paper.
