Once in a while, a scene crosses through my head which, for one reason or another, seems unsuited for expanding into a real story.
My favorite way to write is when a scene grabs my thoughts and refuses to let go until I’ve written it down, and then tumbles out, forwards and backwards, until it has turned into an entire story.
Sadly, sometimes, after I’ve written the scene, the rest of the story doesn’t appear. And, after thinking for a while, I come to the conclusion that it may never happen. Perhaps the scene covers too much, leaving nothing but filler for the rest of the story. Or perhaps it gives only a little while hinting at a story so complicated that it collapses under its own weight before another word has been written.
Those fragments I enjoy enough will be posted here. I reserve the right to expand them into a real story in the future (indeed, one scene originally intended for this purpose has instead turned into a story which is now a small amount of editing from publication), but until then, perhaps others will enjoy these tidbits as well.
For the moment, I have two, the one I’m posting tonight and a second I’ll add in a few days.
