Chapter Description: As Angie dreams, Angela stirs.
The young girl in the crib was sleeping soundly; the older girl inside was just waking up.
---------------------------------------------------------------
...where am I?
"Oh, you’re finally coming to."
Who are you?
"Open your eyes, Angela."
Angela did so, and at first saw only darkness. But as she sat up, she saw someone else in this void with her.
Herself.
How is this possible? You’re me! Well, I mean, you’re like a smaller...version of me.
"Yes, Angela. I am your mental self. I appear younger than you because, for the most part, I am. Your body is regressing, and I am going with it, slow but sure."
Wait, my body? If I’m not my body, then what--
“You are Angela, the spirit. In you are the memories, skills, and knowledge of Angela Thomas as she is supposed to be; sadly, your body will soon be unable to access them anymore.”
I’m a spirit?
“Yes.”
What are we doing here?
“I want to save you, Angela.”
From what?
“From Angie. She’s taken over the body, and me too. By now I probably only look ten years old, and I will continue to regress until I am three years old, like the body. It’s already getting hard to think.”
I don’t understand...
“You don’t have to. But please, listen to me! You’re in danger if you stay here. You’ll end up like me and the body, fit only for a toddler.”
Well, what do you want me to do?
“Run away, Angela. Escape from this place, this realm of dreams. Let Angie’s youthful spirit have this body, but as for you, you must survive!”
Why is this so important?
“Your mommy...your mother has used a power which is beyond what humans should be able to do. This power is coming from a nearby source, which means it’s not limited to your mommy awone. You gotta warn your fwiends, An...”
Are you alright?
“I’m los...woosing id, Angewa! Pwease, weave dis body! Wet the othews know aboud...dis bad fing...”
...Alright, I’m going.
“Bye-bye Andewa...goob wuck...Ni-nigh, Snuggwes...”
Yes...goodbye.
---------------------------------------------------------------
A warm breath left the mouth of the sleeping toddler and wafted out the window, never to return.
