THROUGH THE YEARS...

1.
The workshop was all abuzz, with gleeful joy, as the elves went from one location to the other with toys that would be flying all over the world. Christmas cookies and milk was setting around for the small folk, for when they got hungry. There was a lot to do, but they all were enjoying themselves, immensely. The speakers overhead blared with Christmas music, and the elves did a little dancing to it. Watching them was like watching children at a dancing competition. However, they did not care, they were having fun.
Two doors lead from the workshop. One lead out to the grounds, and the other into the mansion. The residence of one Mr. Kris Kringle, Esq., and his young beautiful wife, Jessica. The mansion was consistently decorated for Christmas. There was tinsel, twinkling fairy lights, mistletoe, and other assorted Christmas objects everywhere. A passerby would think this was the happiest place on earth if he saw it, but that was not the case. Santa was feeling his age.
“500 years!” Santa said, as he shook his head. “500 years, and I can feel it. You know Jessica, I am having problems remembering stuff that I never once forgot? Like who was the one who wanted the Barbie’s, dream castle, and who wanted the remote control monster truck. My bones are cracking, my muscles ache. I really have no idea how much longer I can keep this up.”
Jessica sat there and listened to all of his complaints like she had all the years before, knowing that Santa loved his job, and would never give it up. “I know dear, but just think how disappointed all the children would be if you gave it up.” She simply said.
“True, true.” he said as he looked in the mirror examining himself. “But still I wish I could shave a few years off myself.”
2.
She watched through the crystal ball that was sitting upon her table and watched as Santa complained about how old he was.
“OLD!!! OLD!!!” The witch, Mildred, cackled. “You wish too be young again? Well, my dear Santa Claus, I can grant you that wish.” She walked around her dark room and looked at the spell books that were on her shelves.
Her familiar, Newt Eyes, the Black cat was sitting on the one book she wanted. She rapped at him, and smiled. “Well, Santa you are about to get your wish, and I will get mine! Christmas won’t be the most popular holiday any longer. Halloween will be, and I will rule all of the holidays!” Mildred set the book down on her table with a cloud of dust, then proceeded to open the book to the page she wanted.
“Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh here is what I’m looking for!” She laughed aloud. “What do you think Newt?”
Newt looked down at the page she had marked, and meowed.
“Yes, I agree! This will be one Christmas Santa will never forget!” Mildred chuckled. Then she gazed into her crystal ball, and started chanting.
3.
He stood there still looking in the mirror, pulling on his face. He had a look of sadness across it. He didn’t want to be old. Part of him wished he were never given this cup to drink, though, he was always happy when he thought of all the happy children in the world. Jessica was a whole lot younger then him, and she deserved a younger man to be everything she needed. No, she never complained, but the old man could feel it in his heart. He watched Jessica through the mirror and thought about how lucky he was. She was everything he wanted in a wife, and he tried to do all he could to please her. The one thing that he could never give her, was a child. He knew that was the one thing she had always wanted ,a baby, but by the time that he met Jessica, he was too old. 500 years, was too old too create another human being. ?Heck’ He thought to himself, ?500 years is too long for someone too be living, let alone 500 years’ He chuckled. However, 500 years he was, and she was just barely 39. He felt like he had robbing the cradle.
Looking at his image, in the mirror he noticed himself looking younger. He smiled a bit, and then the lightning, came out of the mirror, and hit him! In a puff of smoke, there was just a pile of clothes there.
“Oh my God! KRIS! Where are you?!!” Jessica Screamed. It was then she noticed the pile moving. When she sifted thought the clothes of the overweight man that was just there, she found a child of two years of age sitting there.
4.
“HEHEHE!” Mildred cackled, watching Santa cry, as Jessica put him in a diaper. The old witch as elated. She knew that Halloween would triumph, this time. “Look at him Newt!” She said gleefully! “He’s a baby now! I have it all wrapped up! I AM NOW THE QUEEN OF THE HOLIDAYS!”
Newt meowed his agreement and jumped off the bookshelf onto the table knocking the crystal ball, over and shattering it.
“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” the old crone cried, as she heard the sound of breaking glass.
Newt jumped off the table and ran out of the room, scared that the old hag would, take it out on him. “You pathetic excuse for a feline!” Mildred shouted, launching bolts of lighting at the cat.
Mildred turned to her closet! She wasn’t too be denied the pleasure of taking over the holidays and having Santa watch as she did it.
“Broom! Come here now!” she demanded, and the broom flew out of the closet. “I’m going to the North Pole, and my destiny will begin!”
5.
Jessica picked up the baby Santa and put a makeshift diaper on him. “Oh Kris, What just happened?” She asked in desperation.
Santa was surprised by the small Childs voice that emitted from him. “Da miwwow.” He cried out, and the sound of his toddler’s voice made him cry even harder. “Da Chilwen! Dey be sooooooooo sad!” He cried. “No mowe Chwithmath!”
“Kris, right now you can’t worry about that . We need too find a way too change you back!” She said sternly.
“...But the chilwan?” He started, but Jessica cut him off.
“The children can wait, if we don’t find out what happened we can’t change you back, then Christmas will be cancelled forever!” She stated, picking him up like the baby he became.
The doorbell rang and Jessica, set the baby Santa down and ran to answer it. Opening the door stood an old witch, and she had a smile, that said she won!
6.
“MILDRED!” Jessica exclaimed after she opened the door.
“Jessica!” Mildred said with a gleam in her eye. “Where’s Santa?” She asked while scanning the area for him.
Jessica looked around, and said too the old witch. “He’s incapacitated right now. You know this is Christmas Eve, and he will be making his run tonight. Why do you ask?”
“Oh no reason really.” she said with an air of innocence. “Was just wondering, I hadn’t seen him in so long. I just thought I would drop in on an old friend.” She put an emphasis on OLD.
“Sorry Mildred, but Kris is really busy.” Jessica smiled, a false smile.
Mildred spotted the baby . “Oh Jessica when did u ever start babysitting?” She asked.
“I’m watching the baby for a friend, now if you don’t mind Mildred I am a little busy.” Jessica said shortly.
Mildred gave a sad smile and looked at her. “But Jessica, I have come a long way, at least you could do is offer me some Tea!”
Jessica rolled her eyes and in an exasperated voice, she spoke, “Ok Mildred, one cup, then I really must get to my work.” She turned and left Mildred in the room with the infant Santa.
When she was sure that Jessica was out of earshot, she picked up the baby. “Well well, how the mighty has fallen!” She laughed. “Yes Santa it was I who granted your wish. You are now younger, and I am more powerful then you are. Halloween is now the biggest holiday, and I intend on taking the throne!”
In frustration, Santa, kicked her! She turned him over and delivered three swats across his bottom. “That’s a bad baby!” She scolded. “Babies should never hit adults! I am going too teach you a lesson that you’ll never forget!” With that, she and the baby went out the door.
7.
Mildred walked up to the podium of the ANNOUNCMENT room, and called the whole of the elves to the room. When the room filled there was a kind of quite that said, something just wasn’t right. Mildred smiled at the elves and laughed.
“You are all out of a job!” She announced. “Santa is no longer in charge! From now on I am!” She had a smug smile on her face as the whispers in the room grew too a dull roar. I have made it so Santa will not be making his run tonight, and he wont be for several more years! Halloween is the greatest holiday now!” She let out a most horrible laugh.
One of the elves looked up at her and demanded, “Where is Santa!”
She picked the baby up, and raised him before her! “This is your precious Santa!” She cackled as lightning hit her and the baby.
In a puff of smoke, there stood a grown up and old Santa, and in a pile of witches garments sat a two year old baby girl. And there in the back ground with her hands held out at midlevel stood Jessica.
8.
“You forgot Mildred! Before I married Santa I was a witch too!” Jessica smiled. “Now I have my Santa back, and I do have a baby too take care of.”
Santa ran into the house, and came out fully clothed, for his ride. “Honey,” He said, “I have too go I will see you when I get back!” he said with a deep passionate kiss. Then climbed into his red sleigh.
“Kris!” Jessica spoke out! “How do u feel?”
“Young.” He smiled as the reindeer took off, leaving Santa’s voice in the sky’s above! “MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!”
