Chapter 1
Mix And React

Chapter Description: Some things are not for mixing

Some things are not for mixing

Another week of work is done at last, one long ass week at that or least that's how it felt. In a year where it's both felt dragged out and too fast then this past week has felt like one of those weeks where time has dragged on and the seconds have turned into hours.

Finally it was done though and a quiet weekend beckoned, she had no plans on going anywhere and nor did her housemate, well her friend really since they had come to bond and learn a lot about one another during the lockdown earlier in the year. Before then they had both been too busy to really spend time getting to know one another. They only really shared the flat together after all out of necessity as having separate homes was just too costly.

When lockdown had hit and people were being asked to avoid going out unless really necessary, a one hour walk a day and neither of them had jobs that were considered important in the government's eyes then they had spent the time getting to know one another, they have become strong friends not long after when they found that they shared more in common than they had originally thought.
Aside from a brief, well, unexpected complication that resolved itself after a few days they had endured the lockdown and returned to work as soon as it was safe to, well as safe as it could be given current events. It was looking like another lockdown might happen though which neither of them wanted to see happen.

At this moment however she just wanted to have a hot shower, wash off the stress of the week and relax for the night. Her roommate had sent her a message saying she would be home shortly after she's popped by the shops to pick up a few things so she won't be home for maybe an hour or close to two hours, she's very particular about what she buys.

Supper wasn't going to be anything fancy for tonight, she was too tired to cook anything fancy and her roommate has mentioned that she happy with seeing what there was of interest in the shops that they could have, both of them agreed that either salad or a simple stir fry would be just fine and they were only short of a few ingredients for those any way.

“Man I need a shower” Anne mummers to herself after checking through the mail, both online and offline. A few bills, some leaflets for nearby takeout restaurants, a couple of government notices regarding the current pandemic, nothing too major. They both paid their fair share in rent and bills as a whole, both herself and Alice kept on top of those and worked together to make sure that their budgets got those paid while ensuring enough for food, necessitates and any luxuries.
Anne came from a family that taught her how to be responsible while Alice only had herself, her family had disowned her for not being heterosexual and not as cis-gender as they had wanted, she's intersex and identifies strongly as female so she had learned how to take care of herself until she was old enough to leave home so to get away from an abusive family that constantly forced her to conform to their unrealistic demands. They had wanted a son and were disappointed that she hadn't turned out like that, once she had turned 18 they threw her out on the streets.
As she had spent much of her childhood preparing herself to survive then she was able to manage while seeking help for housing and farther education, she moved in with Anne at 25 after a rough stint when a former employer had threatened to kill her. That employer is now in prison for actually murdering an employee for being gay.

Alice had been too scared to get to know anyone so for the first almost year she and Anne had barely spoken beyond the odd hello, Anne hadn't wanted to push it so she respected Alice's need to space.
Now that they had come to know one another they were strong friends who respected one another. Anne was surprised to find that Alice has a sarcastic sense of humour borne of her past while Alice admires Anne's sense of responsibility and willingness to understand about the world. Before the lockdown Alice usually spent time on her room after work and rarely came out other than to use the bathroom or to get something from the kitchen, she was quite private for fear of being hurt again like her family and former employer had hurt her.

When an unexpected situation had popped up during lockdown then Alice had proven herself to be willing to do what was needed despite her own misgivings and that solidified Anne's trust and respect for her.
She hoped that Alice wouldn't have to face that situation again soon.

“Okay, shower time” Anne mummers to herself again once the mail has been sorted out, she lets Alice know by phone that there's mail for her to see once she gets home. As they have a power shower in the flat then she switches it on and waits for it to be ready for use while sorting out her day clothes for tomorrow and laying out her night clothes since she wasn't in the mood for wearing anything more than her PJ's for tonight, maybe a dressing gown as well.

Once done she undresses, putting her dirty clothes into the laundry basket to be washed tomorrow, and pops into the shower for a good wash.

In the shower she uses a baby soap that makes her skin feel nice and soft plus it smells lovely, she tries to recall if it had said to not use it with baby lotion after washing or not, she was sure it hadn't said that. After the little situation during lockdown she did try to be careful with mixing those together after the unexpected reaction after mixing them together.

Once washed from top to toe she pops out, dries off and wanders through to her bedroom to get dressed after applying some baby lotion, it hydrated her skin and made it as soft as the baby soap did.

As she finishes slipping her PJ's on though she starts to note a light tingling kicking in, first it started in her fingers and toes before spreading around her body, she recognised this feeling.

“Oh crap” She whispers as she runs through to the bathroom to check the wrapper from the baby soap and the back of the baby lotion bottle -

'Do not mix together if you have had a reaction prior'

“Not again!” She rushes over to her phone to let Alice know that she had just screwed up again, her PJ's getting looser bit by bit, she had a very rare reaction to mixing baby soap and baby lotion together which she had only just found out earlier in the year. Since then she had tried to avoid mixing them together by distancing how long between washing and applying the lotion, she had slipped up though and had used the lotion too soon.
She tries to let Alice know what's happened but the phone is feeling heavier in her hands causing her to drop it on the floor, she tries to pick it up but the sofa has become so big now.

All she could do was stay where she was as she was scared of trying to get off the sofa due to how quickly she was shrinking. Bugger.

“Just me!” Alice calls out as she steps into the flat's hallway. “People are being silly again and panic buying, you would think they had the runs with how much toilet paper they're buying” Alice steps through into the living room and notices a pair of pyjama bottoms on the floor.

“Anne?” She calls out, she is answered with a small 'Oops' that sounds very babyish coming from the sofa. A small hand waves to her before a rather adorable baby girl pulls herself up as best as she can, wobbling on the seat as she tries to secure herself.

“OH NOT AGAIN!” Alice cries out as Anne smiles cutely at her.

“Sowwy” Anne lisps before she loses her balance and plops back down on the sofa with a giggle. Remembering where the baby supplies were kept, she had thought it best to keep hold of them just in case this happened again and had added to them over the months since the last time.

“At least you're cute like this” Alice remarks as she picks Anne up from the sofa, she was a cute baby at about a year old just like last time. Whatever this rare reaction was it didn't last too long, a couple of days at most.
“Let's get you padded then, can't have you making a mess everywhere”

This was going to be a long weekend.

Caution, mixture may result in a cute reaction
