Chapter 1
Prologue

Chapter Description: A man receives a mysterious call.

Hey, I’m Kevin Ryan. I wasn’t always so successful with women...ok I’m still not. Up until my 25th birthday, I had multiple different relationships that went nowhere.

I talked to my younger sister on the phone a couple days before I turned 25. She was born about a year after I was, but if you saw her you’d think she was older than me. She told me, “Kevin, you’re almost 25 and you haven’t had a single relationship that lasted more than a week. If you ask me I’d say you give up.”

I responded, “Thanks for being supportive Kelli. I actually have been seeing someone for the last two months for your information.”

“I actually need to go. See you in a couple days.”

I hung up and before I knew it my phone rang again. It was my girlfriend Rosalia. I answered and I heard her say, “Kevin, I’m sorry, but this isn’t working out.”

I told her, “You’re seriously doing this over the phone, Rosalia? I thought you were above this. I guess you’re right; this won’t work out.”

I hung up right after that. Just when I thought that was the last call I would get that day, my phone rang again. The number didn’t look familiar, but I answered anyway.

The voice on the other end said, “Kevin Ryan: on the day you turn 25, you will be granted a great ability. Only at that ‘time’ will you know your true purpose.”

After that he hung up. I doubted it and figured some of my friends had someone from the community theater company call me to tell me this as a joke. I went on with my life and on my 25th birthday I discovered the truth about that call.
