An odd carnival comes to town, and odd things follow in it's wake.
A cold wind blew into the town, and with it came an odd troop. The were performers by nature, and in the quiet hours before dawn, they set up there tents. The carnival was in town, and it was time to play! In the dark of night, the carnies went, and plastered there signs on the corners and doors all around the sleeping town. "Come see the Shadow Faire!" Is all the said, but it was enough.
As dawn broke over the town, and the residents began to wake, and go about their days, they see the signs, in the curiousity of them gets the best of even the most serious minded man. By noon the faire is packed with those who wish to have a look.
The residents wander around the town, watching the illustrated man, the strong man, the bearded lady, the man with the tail, fire eaters, lion tamers, and all the like. Their minds are filled with awe. And in the middle of it all stands the Shadow Man himself.
His looks draw no special attention, and his voice is like any other. Dressed in black pants and vest, over a white dress shirt, there is nothing memoriable at all about this particular man, but that is how he liked it. His booth was simple, with simple words on a simple sign. Wishes Granted, $1 each.
The rules were simple enough, take a slip of paper, and write your wish upon it, then drop it in the drum. You can not wish for some ones death, and you can not wish for immortality. Negative wishes have consequences, be forewarned.
Over the course of the day, many wishes would be made, by all matters of people, young and old, man and woman, nice and, well, not so nice. All were taken with a smile, by the man in the vest.
As the day turned slowly to night, the people returned to their home, and those who made wishes soon forgot the man and his booth, go back to their real lives in the real world. By the time the sun shone again on the town, the Shadow Faire was gone, but the man remaind behind, to Grant what he had promised.
Wishes Granted
