Play Date

“Awwww isn’t that just precious?” Carrie said as she drove herself and Vern home. “My widdle Veronica is going to have her first ever play date.”

“Easy, woman,” Vern said from behind her, “its embarrassing enough. But she?s been nice to me so far. I obviously don?t have any friends. They?re still men” The last sentence came out as a sneer. Vern sighed a long sigh and looked out the window, thinking about his friends. He remembered their names. Joe, Billy, George, Jason. But the more he thought about them, the harder it was for him to put a face to each of them. In fact, he couldn’t remember ever hanging out with them. He knew he did, but for some reason his brain couldn’t recall any instances.

He thought about Jill. He was happy to have her as a friend. His mind wandered into thinking about what they would do tomorrow after school. He was sure they would talk about it class. He thought about them both laying on their stomachs in the living room coloring in coloring books or playing with Barbie dolls. He snapped back into reality and saw that his feet were bouncing up and down happily as they hung in midair due to the short length of his legs. He was smiling, and for a fraction of a second he forgot that he was once a man.

The next day at school was exceptionally long. Vern had looked forward to the play date with Jill since the day before. They had whispered to each other throughout the entire class.

“What do you wanna do at my house?” Vern asked.

“I dunno. Wanna play Barbie?” Jill replied.

“Ok,” said Vern full of pep, “I have a couple in my closet. Bring yours is you have any.”

“Sure,” Jill said. She sounded excited as well. “Hey you’re wearing your pigtails today!”

“Yep,” smiled Vern, “But you’re not.”

“Oh yeah,” said Jill, “I’ll put my hair in pigtails at lunch”

“Ahem!” said Mrs. Rose and the two girls looked up, “I hope you two are paying attention!” She wasn’t angry, she was just being teacherly. In many ways, Mrs. Rose reminded Vern of Carrie, a forceful presence to Vern, trapped in a girl’s body.

“We’re sorry, Mrs. Rose” the two girls said together, and they giggled at each other.

Mrs. Rose smiled. “Veronica,” she said, “would you like to do these three problems on the board?” She held the chalk out in her hand. Though she posed it as a question, Vern knew that she wasn’t asking.

“Sure Mrs. Rose,” said Vern as he gave a glance at Jill and rose from his seat. He walked across the room to the chalkboard and took the chalk from Mrs. Rose. Written on the board were the problems “8 + 7”, “9 + 4”, and “10 + 16”.

Vern finished the first two problems in ten seconds and Mrs. Rose said, “Be careful with this last one, it’s a little more difficult.” But Vern had the correct answer on the board before she had gotten halfway through the sentence. Vern put the chalk back in a stunned Mrs. Rose’s hand and walked back to his chair happily.

As he gleefully made his way back to his seat, a few of the kids in the class got antsy.

“How does she do it so fast?” said one boy near the window.

“Why is she so good?” said a blonde girl not too far from Vern. There was a general commotion and Mrs. Rose quieted the class,

“Class, class,” she said raising her hands up signaling silence, “Calm down. Maybe Veronica has just been more attention. I doubt she’s cheating. She always finishes before those around her.”

“She finishes before any of us!” said Horace Kepley, a small bespectacled boy, “It’s not fair!” murmurs of agreement swept through the class.

And Vern smirked quite smugly to himself when he saw that even Jill was looking astonished.

“It’s hard to color inside the lines,” said Jill, “How do you do it?”

Vern and Jill were laying stomach-down on the living room carpet each with coloring books and lots of crayons surrounding them. “I dunno,” Vern lied, “I color a lot.”

“Well your betterer than me at math AND coloring.” said Jill looking a little upset. Vern felt a little sorry, and purposely colored a little outside the lines from then on. It was a few hours after school, and Carrie was in the kitchen washing dishes. After a little while both pictures were fully colored and each girl signed their pictures (Vern remembering to sign “Veronica”) and gave them to one another with a hug and a thank you.

They watched TV and talked a bit before they painted their toe-nails and fingernails. Vern couldn’t believe that he was not only painting his fingers and toes, but was enjoying it. He then decided that it wasn’t the painting that made him happy, it was purely Jill’s pleasurable company. After they painted they nails, Vern ran to his girlish room and grabbed his Barbie dolls, carrying them down into the living room.

They then played with the dolls for a long time, until the sun was sinking lower and its reddish light was beginning to grow in the living room. Vern was happier than he ever remembered being as a man. Of course, he admitted, he had many more fun times as a young boy he was sure of it, but he couldn’t remember any instance in particular.

“Time for dinner!” came Carrie’s voice, “Come in here you two!”

Vern and Jill rose from the living room reluctantly, Jill leading ahead slightly. As much as Vern wanted Carrie back as his wife and though he was rather enjoying himself in his girlish body, the sound of Carrie’s voice, though sweet and motherly, sounded like an evil cackle to him. He tried to convince himself as much as he could every time he saw her that he hated Carrie for doing this to him, but it was hard to do so.

In the kitchen, Carrie had three plates on the table, each with chicken, noodles, and a side of macaroni and cheese. They all ate quickly, the food was very good, and conversation carried on. Carrie asked them about school and Jill quickly went into explanation about how smart Vern is.

“Veronica knows math a lot! She never gets a problem wrong! And the teacher always thinks she cheats off me, but I’m not any good at math stuff.”

Carrie and Vern caught each other’s eyes for a second, and Vern gave an innocent cock of his head. “I’m not that good” Vern said shyly to Jill, still looking at his fork. He didn’t know whether Carrie was upset or amused at Vern’s tactlessly intelligent nature in class. Before Carrie could say anything sketchy in front of Jill, Vern quickly asked, “Carrie, it’s Friday. Can Jill stay over tonight?”

Carrie finished a drink of water from her glass and said, “I don’t see why not. As long as her mother is fine with it.”

Jill looked ecstatic, and Vern smiled. They finished their meals quickly, and ran off to the living room without putting their dished in the sink. Once there, Jill asked as Vern handed her the telephone to call he mother, “You call your mommy ?Carrie’?”

“Oh,” Vern said, realizing that he had, “yeah, right.”

“Why?” Jill asked sincerely.

“Uh, I don’t know. I just don’t like calling her ?mommy’.”

“Ok.” Jill said, “whatever. She’s your mommy.” and they laughed.

Later, after Jill had gotten her mother to drop off her night clothes, they build a rag-tag fort out of Disney blankets and pillows in the living room. They were in deep conversation of school and games and how boys are icky when Jill laughed and laid down across the pillows they had spread on the floor in the fort.

“Yeah, that Tom boy is a real meany,” Jill explained, “he always pulled my pigtails and he punches other boys for no reason.”

“He?s a jerk,” replied Vern, “He got all scared when I grabbed his shirt. Scared of a little girl with pigtails!” And he pulled gently at his own hair, which were put into pigtails by Jill earlier. “Why is he mean to you? You?re so nice.”

Jill blushed and even in the semi-darkness, Vern could see it. “He makes fun of me cause he says I?m weird.”

Before Vern could ask any more, Carrie called from the kitchen, “OK you two, it’s getting late. Time for bed.”

The two girls groaned. “Can’t we sleep in the fort?” said they, sticking their pigtailed heads out from a blanket which served as the door to their hide-out.

“No,” said Carrie with a smile, “Some forts attract wolves and scary monsters at night. You’ll be nice and safe in bed.” Jill looked a little scared and popped her head back into the fort. “So clean up you two,” came Carrie’s voice again, “I want you two in bed in ten minutes!”

With another groan, they cleaned up the fort and trotted off to bed, already clothed in pajamas.

While Vern prepared the bed for two little girls instead of one, Carrie passed his bedroom door and beckoned him. “I want to talk to you for a second Veronica,” she said, not bothering to lower her voice. From this, Vern thought that what Carrie wanted to say wasn’t anything bad. If it was, she probably would have dropped her voice in front of Jill. So Vern finished the bed and walked down the hallway into Carrie’s bedroom, which used to be theirs.

“So you don’t try to make yourself seem like a first-grader at all in school?” Carrie had asked once the door closed behind Vern.

“No.” Vern said with a shrug. “Why should I? I already know the stuff miss rose teaches in class. I already act like a little girl in school to avoid raising eyebrows. I don’t want to be seen as an idiot.”

“It’s not very subtle,” Carrie said, deliberately cocking one eyebrow up. “people would get suspicious. I was generous enough to let you keep your man’s brain. But if people find out that you have the intelligence (If you could call cheating on your partner intelligent) of someone who’s already had one go-round at life, then they’ll find out about me.” Vern thought that it wouldn’t be such a bad idea if Carrie wasn’t so vicious. “The last time people found out I was a witch, I had to go into hiding. I had to reset everyone’s memories. I was burned alive at the stake because I didn?t do it well enough.”

“Burned alive?” Vern said in disbelief, “You actually expect me to believe that crap? What, were you in Salem at the time?”

“Yeah” Carrie said honestly, setting Vern’s face straight. “The Salem Witch Trials. I was one of the only few real witches that were found out. I don?t age very fast, alright?”

She walked over to the bed and began to take off her clothes facing away from Vern, who quickly diverted his eyes which were flicking up and down Carrie’s body. A perfect body. If Carrie was actually there at the time of the Salem, she didn’t look it. She looked young, not even into her 30’s. In Vern’s mind an erection that did not exist began to pound with blood like a drum, and he knew that he was retaining some part of his male self. Carrie turned around to face Vern, with noting covering her but a pink satin bra and matching panties. Vern’s mouth began to water. At that moment he didn’t even care what Carrie had done to him. He just wanted to be inside her. He wanted to feel her body against his, naked and sweating, on the very bed that she leaned against now. He wanted her to turn him back so he could bang her just one more time.

But where he would have had to adjust his pants to hide what would have been a rock solid erection, there was nothing. Nothing but the vagina of a little first-grade girl being covered by pink panties embossed with Dora The Explorer designs. He felt warm down there, and he knew that what used to be between manly legs, would never be there again. He would have that vagina forever. Because Carrie didn’t need Vern’s privates anymore. She had Jeff now, and probably more dildo’s than could be counted.

Now all of Carrie’s clothes were completely off and she strode naked to the drawer to get a nightgown, her breasts moving back and forth all the way, drawing Vern’s eyes completely.

“Your teacher isn’t upset that you probably know more than she does?” Asked Carrie, pulling on the nightgown and turning to look at Vern.

“She thinks I’m cheating, but I’m better than those around me. Jill sits next to me in class and she always wants to cheat off me. Why do you think it’s such a problem?”

The last sentence came out a little bit confrontational, and this did not go unnoticed by Carrie. “And what If I told your little friend that we are moving. Or that I heard you saying how much you hate her?”

“That’s a goddamn lie! I don’t hate her! She’s my friend!” Said Vern.

“How many times,” Carrie said walking over to him, “must I tell you not to use language like that young lady?” Before Vern could retort Carrie pressed on, “Use language like that one more time and you will never see Jill again!”

The threat hit home. Vern did not know whether she meant that she would use magic or not, but he didn’t want to find out. “Jill needs me as a friend. She doesn?t have any others.” And with that, Vern marched to the door.

Carrie smirked, “Your hands are filthy again. Look at your nails, they’re covered with food. Go wash your hands before bed.”

Vern took her hand off the doorknob, and held his hand out, fingers spread wide and his palm facing away from him, not catching Carrie?s trick to see how girly he?d become. They looked just as pink as they were before.

“Fine,” he said before storming out of the bathroom, leaving Carrie in the bedroom smiling a satisfied smile.

“Are you OK?” Jill asked as Vern punched a pillow into place and climbed into bed. He grabbed a teddy bear, tucked it under one arm, and passed another one to Jill, who was laying on her side facing Vern.

“Yeah. Carrie’s just being mean” he said with his angry girl’s voice. Jill decided not to press the issue and talked about other things instead.

“How ?bout we put red ribbons in our pigtails tomorrow?” She said hopefully, snuggling the bear a little tighter.

Vern smiled. “OK” he said, and they continued to chit chat until both of them were soon breathing quietly in deep sleeps.

Carrie remained up until the two had gone to sleep. She could sense that they were both deep in their dreams and she sat up in the bed.

Vern was enjoying this too much. This was supposed to be punishing him, not giving him what he wanted, even if it was something he didn’t know he wanted himself. She had to make it harder for him. Carrie twitted around ideas of what to do to Vern, and then her mind rested on Jill. If she couldn’t torture and humiliate him without him ending up enjoying it, he’ll use Jill as a puppet. If she could make Jill disgusted with Vern, he should suffer a pretty harsh blow.

But what could she do? What was something that would disgust Jill? She couldn’t affect free judgment. That was unbreakable magic law. What could she do to Vern that would make Jill find him repulsive?

After a short moment, she stumbled on her answer.

She rose to her feet and got her wand out of the end-table. She whispered slow, non-discernable words and pointed the wand at the ceiling.

It seemed to have no effect...

... But in the other room the effects of her spell began to manifest.

Perhaps Vern shouldn’t have drank so much water during dinner, because unbeknownst to the two girls asleep in a pink bed down the hall, Vern’s insides began to churn and change and very soon, all the water he consumed at dinner began to flow freely from between his girlish legs...
